I'm pretty sure that Pro Snowboarder Todd Richards from Breckenridge,
Colorado collects. When I went on a snowboard trip to Colorado I bought a
few carded figures from an antique toy store there and the owner mentioned
she has sold stuff to him.
Anybody more famous than that? That's a pretty obscure name unless you're
stupid for snowboarding like I am.
If I were pulling in big dough like Jim Carrey, I would take a trip to
Atlanta, knock on Tom Derby's door, and write a fat check for a gang of toys
and prototypes.

I was at San Diego Comicon last year and while visiting a booth of a
well-known Star Wars dealer, I saw Leo DiCaprio talking to that dealer
about Star Wars toys. It was kind of a surreal experience as I didn't
know he was a Star Wars collector until then.
It's kind of weird to think "the next Anakin" might be looking for a
12-back. ;^)

I was once an extra in a unpopular movie and was visible for a second.
Welcome to All Things Vintage. Our slogan is "If it's not vintage, it's crap!!"
Does it really bother you that much that he might be considered for the
role? I've never really understood this whole "I like Star Wars, therefore
I hate Leonardo DiCaprio" logic. It's quite weird. Who cares if the guy
was in Titanic. Seriously, get over it. Go over to TheForce.net's message
boards and you and the Leo complainers can have a blast all day long
protesting his involvement in the next film.
Personally, I don't really care who is cast as the next Anakin, as long as
the film doesn't suck of course. But I digress. We are of course in the
Vintage Star Wars Collecting newsgroup, not the Episode II newsgroup.

Neither do I. So I'll leave out the fact that you are totally on the wrong
track.
>Who cares if the guy
>was in Titanic.
I don't blame him for Titanic. I have nothing against him, I thought he was
perfect in Romeo and Juliet and is a great actor. I have a problem with the
fact that a 5'6" or whatever guy is being considered to play a 6'8" man! Leo is
a string bean, and Darth Vader has about 54" shoulders. If George is going
towards starpower to sell the film, I suspect it will just suck. He never
needed it before, so I assume this is a rumor.
I misunderstood where you were going. I though you were among the mindless
drones that spew out Internet-fed opinions on Leo's involvement in the
Episode II project.
> fact that a 5'6" or whatever guy is being considered to play a 6'8" man! Leo
> is a string bean, and Darth Vader has about 54" shoulders.
Remember Ed Norton in American History X? Boy he got big. Hollywood
dollars go a long way with personal trainers and committed actors gain and
lose weight all the time for upcoming roles.
"This bickering is pointless". It's all good. I didn't mean to lash out,
or come off as confrontational. I'm sure that most people in here want to
keep non-collecting discussion to a minimum anyway.
Besides, this discussion has played itself out and is solely based on rumors
and misinformation.

Not quite as cool, but Gary Barlow, ex lead singer with Brit boy band Take
That, is also a SW collector. And I think Phil Jupitus, the fat comedian on
Never Mind The Buzzcocks, is also a fan - at least, he does a great Wookiee
impression!

UK based collector buying and selling all vintage Star Wars items -
especially seeking any Palitoy items.
I don't care much about whether or not Leo gets the Anakin part (and this
discussion really doesn't belong on this board), but he's not 5'6". He's around
6' to 6'1", I believe, which is a good bit taller than Macgregor. I believe
Prowse is only about 4" taller than that, which doesn't seem like an
unbelievable stretch to me. Besides, Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader
should include a certain amount of incredibility.
In any case, whether Leo gets the part or not (and I doubt he will), whoever
does get the part will be very much a Leo "type," meaning he'll be a blonde
pretty boy. I would almost bet my PC on it.

Huh, he always looked so short. Anyway, the point is that he is just not right
for the part, and Lucas has a good eye for casting the right people(knock on
wood). Last comment from me.
Kirk Hammett, the guitarist, is a huge monster collector. I hear that
he
has an incredible vintage monster movie poster collection. I don't know
about SW for him though.
Glenn Danzig (Misfits, Samhain, Danzig) used to have a really big toy
collection of Japanese stuff like Tetsujin, Astroboy, etc... But I
don't know if he still does that or not.
And then there's Rosie O'Donnell. Oh, Demi Moore collects toys also.
Though none of these are Star Wars collectors, it's pretty cool
nonetheless. Oh, I forgot that Christian Slater is supposedly a big
Star Wars collector.
-chris
I read somewhere that pitcher Kevin Brown (Dodgers) is a Star Wars fan.
Whether or not he collects, I don' know. He did sign a $100 million contract,
so with that kind of money, I imagine he could afford a few Yak Faces.
It strikes me as quite strange, myself. Leonardo DiCraprio is a fine actor,
and, quite honestly, Star Wars needs all the actors that can act well without
much direction because they sure ass hell aren't getting any from George
Lucas.
But, now we are really straying off-topic.

Slater, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnel, Tom Arnold, Mathew Broderick, Todd
McFarlane and Seth Green (Austin Powers) are are collectors.... trust me on
this.
No sh$%t on this one, he was totally bad ass in that movie, not the little runt
