In G98, one of the soldiers says, "We're going to need bigger guns!"
This is a quote from a previous scifi movie, but I'm approaching
cerebral burnout trying to identify it.

Is there anyone without such memory deficits who knows the answer?

Thanks,

Bill Graney

I assume it's dedicated to the "We're going to need a bigger boat"
line from JAWS

Hello,

This quote came from the Rutger Hauer movie called "Split Second".
Detective Dick Durken is shaken up after his first encounter with the
creature and uses this statement.

Not a sci-fi movie but, JAWS "We're going to need a bigger boat."

It comes from the flick "Split Second" with Rutger Haur. His rookie side
kick says it a number of times

The quote is from the movie "Split Second" with Rutgar Hauer, which was taken
from the joke in the movie Jaws.

As far as I know, it's from a small-budget scifi film starring Rutger
Hauer... I think is was called "Split Second". The "bigger guns" stuff
was the only good thing about that film... ;-/

Nope, the sci-fi thriller Split Second, which is worth checking out.

Try _Split_Second_ starring Rutger Hauer. "We need bigger guns!"

Yes, I am perfectly aware of the dates involved - however, do you really
give Devlin and Emmerich the benefit of the doubt to look back that far
for their ripoff lines?

But which of the two movies -- Split Second and Jaws -- is universally
well known and heralded as a classic bubblegum movie, and which is
considered just another Rutger Hauer movie? No, I doubt if Devlin and
Emmerich have even heard of Split Second. Personally, I'm only aware
of its existence because it keeps staring at me when I visit my video
library's sci-fi section.
