Here goes:
Another view on the whole time travel-business.
There seem to be a lot of different views on the question of
timetravel and the paradoxes that follows as a consequence.
Is is possible, by sending Terminators back in time, to prevent
the birth of John Connor?
I say no.
In the end of T2, we are supposed to believe that the future has changed,
that there will never be a Sky-Net, and that everything has a happy ending.
I say no.
I think, that Sarah's idea about 'No Fate', that nothing is pre-determined is
wrong.
If the terminator succedes in preventing John Connor from being born,
there will never be any timetravelling, hence the need in the future for
sending back Terminators will not exist.
This will eliminate the possibility for Sky-Net to be build, because
all the basic work for Sky-Net, was based on the first Terminator.
My idea is this: The future is set. There's no way to alter it.
By trying to change the past, you only secure the
future.
You cannot change the past, by travelling back in time,
simply because the future has already happened.
The idea is proven by the fact, that it was the first attempt to change
the past, that actually became the basis for Sky-Net (the remaining chip).
So by trying to change the past, people trying to do so, only secure it.
Any views?

Future 1:- Reese and terminators are sent to the past to prevent this future
and create Future 2.
Future 2:- Reese is brainwashed to believe he came from future 2, the
terminators are programmed suitably, all are sent back to ensure that this
future is maintained.

Hi it's me,
Well, I disagree. Possibly with the writers of Terminator, but basically
with the idea that the past cannot be changed. I think this comes about
because we look at the world in only three dimensions, it is the only way
we can look at things. I can't even imagine a fourth and I challege
someone to show me a fourth dimension. I have heard before that the
fourth dimension is time. Now I'm just some lowly ignorant person and
don't know much (at least I admit it :) So maybe someone can explain away
the above to me.
Now to my point, I've been toying with this idea as of late because I'm
interested in writing a book where there is an aspect of time travel.
I see in the far far far far (you got the idea) that after basic space
ships have been invented (well, I guess they already have, but I mean
faster than light travel) They will eventually build ships that can
sail in the fourth dimension (time)
These ships would enable someone to keep in the same time, essentially
ennabling instantaneous (nearly) travel between any two points in space.
This would also allow ships to travel backwards and forwards through time.
Ships which traveled backwards in time would be able to change the course
of history, the only thing is they would end up entering a different course
of time, now the nice thing about these ships is that they could cross into
different 'threads' of time, even returning to their original time frame
with history exactly unchanged, but of course in some alternate universe/
thread the history would be all changed. This Hypothesis would (maybe:)
get rid of the Paradox of time travel...I'm not quite sure...
I would really appreciate comments on this Idea...
