and Horror: Third Annual Collection. Trade paperback (simultaneous with
hardback issue), NF. Humorous inscription by Ellen Datlow. My roommate had
Ellen sign this, not realizing that I had bought the hardcover for my
collection. Cover price is $15, but since itąs personally inscribed to me
(albeit in error), I have to charge extra for its vast associational
value. $15.25.
101. Fanthorpe, R. L. (writing as Pel Torro). Galaxy 666. Leisure, 1968.
F-. 1st U.S. paperback? In any case, a reprint of the Badger first. Widely
acclaimed (reviled?) as The Worst Science Fiction Novel Ever Written. It
might also qualify as a weird Star Trek collectable, since (for no
apparent reason) the cover photo depicts a blurred blue model of the
Enterprise, albeit one with an odd bridge linking the two engine pods. The
first book ever to depict the Enterprise? Who the heck knows? Completely
off the cheese-o-meter. Youąll get your moneyąs worth in entertainment
value just reading the thing aloud at parties, especially the passages
where he listed adjectives from a thesaurus to pad out the book. (łThe
things were odd, weird, grotesqueŠ˛). $10.

list, King list. The movie, The Haunting, was excellent and quite
unnerving. Recommended. $5.

page proofs. Signed by Lansdale. OK, hereąs the deal. This is a
typesetting proof (unbound Xerox pages) of the Bantam paperback edition.
However, this copy was used to transcribe the novel into electronic format
for the Ziesing hardback edition by myself, Dwight Brown, and Glen Cox.
The first page is wrinkled and has a faint beverage ring stain, otherwise
fine, with corrections by both myself (handwritten in blue ink) and
whoever set the Bantam edition (present when I received the manuscript). A
unique item for the Lansdale completist! In original FedEx envelope. $250.

1969. VG, with rubbing, nicks, a half-inch chip from top rear cover, and
first few page edges crumbling. Never knew he did media-tie-in work before
I stumbled across this. Man had to eat, I guess. $5.

133. Moorcock, Michael. The Black Corridor. Ace, 1969. PBO. F-, with just
a trace of edgewear on the top back cover and slight staining on top edge.
Otherwise a bright, tight copy. Dillon cover. Interesting psychological
drama of solitary crewman going mad on a spaceship fleeing an earthly
holocaust. As far as I know, the only hardback of this ever produced was
the book club edition. Recommended. $5.
134. Palwick, Susan. Flying in Place. Advanced Reading Copy (the second of
two advanced states). VG+, with one corner bent, the spine crimped, and
publicity business card stapled to front cover. Slipstreamy debut novel of
child abuse and ghosts. Palwick is an extremely talented writer.
Recommended. $5.

edgewear and cover scratches). PBO. The book about Christian beer. Fun and
Recommended. $5.

148. Stableford, Brian M. The Days of Glory , with In the Kingdom of the
Beasts, with Day of Wrath (all Ace, 1971). The complete Dies Irae trilogy.
All NF, with spine creases on I and II, and a 1/2˛ top front cover chip on
II. All PBOs. Far future Space Opera about a war between mankind and their
genetically created łBeasts.˛ An oldy moldy by a writer whoąs currently
producing some of the genreąs most fascinating work. (FWIW, thereąs a lot
of old Stableford DAW paperbacks to be had around Austin, especially if
youąre not picky about condition. Let me know what youąre looking for.)
