Leslie Smith and Ken Josenhans are delighted to announce that we were
married on Sunday, May 17. The ceremony was in Newtown, Pennsylvania,
a distant suburb of Philadelphia. We had the wedding there because
it was closer to both of our families; we still live in Michigan.

As a demonstration of how gafiated we are: we traded in our Bucconneer
trip for a honeymoon in Rome, Florence and Venice.

Congratulations to you both -- may your days be filled with music.

I would have traded my BBuuccoonneerr trip for such a honeymoon
as well; Lauryn and I expect to have a honeymoon one of these years.

Best wishes again.

Let's see: Yet another Worldcon, versus trip to Rome, Florence, and Venice.
How many microseconds does it take to choose Rome, Florence, and Venice?

Sorry, your demonstration does not in fact demonstrate gafia, only sanity.
You'll have to do something else to demonstrate gafia. (Tip: When trying to
prove gafia, don't do it in a post to rec.arts.sf.fandom.)

Congratulations!

So, when are we going to see a Wedding Report with fun details of the
ceremony and reception? <grin>

Hmm. Worldcons are once a year. Rome, Florence and Venice I can take
a train to anytime. This is a choice?

Hmm... an interesting choice... Leonardos vs. Hugos...

OK, how about if I tell you that we are thinking that if we stop
going to conventions all together, we can probably squeeze in return
visits to Rome and Venice every couple of years?

I don't think there's much I could get verbal about on the subject
of the wedding and the reception. As for the honeymoon in Italy,
where we were shameless tourists, there is a great deal to be written;
something should appear in July on a local bbs system
(http://www.cyberspace.org) and I can e-mail copies to old friends
and other curious people.

Tim Illingworth (t...@smof.demon.co.uk) wrote, following up Patrick:

And my parents live just 30 minutes from the site of the Baltimore
Worldcon; we hop up there for a dinner a couple of times a year when
I'm in Maryland for a visit.

More significantly: Baltimore could have been a tremendously
sentimental occasion for us, since it was at the 1983 Baltimore
convention where Linda Bushyager first introduced the two of us.

But, in terms of resources -- job vacation days and hotel costs --
we could not make both trips work.

Tim continues:

> [Why _anyone_ wants to go to Rome in August is beyond me.]

Like I said, it was a resource swap, not a schedule conflict.
We were in Italy for the second half of May, when the weather was
spectacular. Come August, I'll be grinding away at work.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts!
