How do I recall a newsgroup's recent history after killing and restarting the newsgroup in Opera?

I'm looking for a restart in my Opera's rec.arts.sf.fandom after I killed
and restarted the newsgroup. When it restarted, it had lost all its
previous history -- 150 or more entries, including some of my own -- and
after searching I can't find how in the 'support' materials or elsewhere,
how to reset it and restart from zero. Seems to me there ought to be
something around here to do it but I can't find the description of it. Do
I have to entirely kill my Opera and reload from scratch to reset a
newsgroup? It seems excessive but I don't see any other options from
here. Titeotwawki -- mha

This sort of thing is one reason I don't "upgrade" from trn. There
are two copies of my .newsrc file on Panix, another not maor than a
day old on my other ISP, and another not more than a week old on my
Apple laptop and on the thumb drive on the keyring that's always in
my pocket. Similarly with my kill file, and all other relevant files.
