[[A cyclist says he is lucky to be alive after he was hit by a car whose
driver is later believed to have tweeted about the crash.

Toby Hockley was on the 100-mile Boudicca Sportive ride in Norfolk on
Sunday when he was struck by a car and flung into a hedge, he said.

The incident is being linked to a comment on Twitter by a Norwich woman.

It read: "Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier. I have
right of way - he doesn't even pay road tax!"

The tweet included the hashtag "#Bloodycyclists".

If that turns out to be accurate, she deserves all she gets....

I was impressed by the action that Norfolk plod have taken and
also impressed by the general reaction from people on twitter
who preserved the messages (the messages were deleted and account
closed pretty swiftly after the tweet).

She will probably (and deservedly) lose her licence.

Not impressed with Radio Norfolk though.

Plenty of people are stupid enough to (a) think they don't have to
obey the rules, and (b) boast about it afterwards. Not just car
drivers.

A couple of years ago in San Francisco, a cyclist blew through a red
light (he didn't want to lose momentum), and hit a pedestrian who
later died. The cyclist kept going, but posted about it in a cycling
board. His GPS log for the ride (which he posted) showed that he had
been well above the speed limit at that point. We discussed it in this
group.
