Pub meet moves again
After having settled in the Bankers Arms, the Irish SF meeting
in Dublin has had to move again after a change in management.
Padraid O'Mealoid and James Bacon have taken on the task of
finding a new meeting place and organising the meetings. Since
ISFA is dead and Science Fiction Ireland is comatose, the
First Tuesday meetings will use the monniker Sci-Fi Club. A
website at http://www.lostcarpark.com/sfclub gives details.
The new venue is Bowe's Pub on Fleet Street opposite the rear
entrance of the Irish Times and the 46A bus stop. (David
Stewart)
Russian Ezine
CityCat.ru, a popular Russian email list service, have started
a new project (Felist.Com), offering (since November 1) mail
lists in English. One of the lists is "Russian Science Fiction
& Fantasy".http://subscribe.ru/catalog/lit.writer.scifi The
ezine appears occasionally. List master: Alexei Monastyrsky,
email alex...@rusf.ru http://fiction.ru/english The list
describes what's happening on the Russian Science Fiction &
Fantasy web site.
Armageddon late
ArmageddonCon was postponed due to the apocalyptic turn of
events in Israel. The Israeli Society for Science Fiction and
Fantasy (http://sf-f.org.il) will continue to work on other
conventions, and hopes to bring International guests to future
events.
However, the spectacular set of Science Fiction stamps
commissioned from artist Avi Katz (http://www.avikatz.com),
originally slated for release in conjunction with
ArmageddonCon, is available at Israeli Postal Offices. Online
images can be seen at
(http://www.armageddoncon.org/arcon_stamps.html). Avi Katz has
also recently put the series of paintings he prepared for the
Con online. You can reach the exhibit directly by going to
http://www.avikatz.com/armageddon/01welcome.htm Drop by Avi's
guestbook and leave a good word on your way out

Fans Across the World Thanks for help, info, etc. to Dave
Langford, Roger Robinson, John Mansfield, Martin Hoare, Marc
Ortlieb, Piotr Cholewa, Jim Walker, David Stewart, Luis Prado
& others. Apologies for last month. The central heating broke
down completely, and I had no heating or hot water for
practically all of Decemberand the beginning of January. I'm
now trying out Hot Metal Pro for the HTML version. It has
become a bit of a software nightmare - Word Perfect as the
piece of software that talks to others, Pressworks as the DTP
software, and Hot Metal Pro to turn the DTP and text version
into HTML. It will all work in the end I'm sure. At least it
means that I don't get Word Perfect writing its own version of
HTML (I wouldn't let Word even try...).
