ROME, December 3, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A leading Vatican cardinal
caused a flutter in the secular press yesterday by stating that
homosexuals who act on their sexual impulses cannot go to heaven.
"Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven
and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul," said Cardinal Javier
Lozano Barragan, a Mexican and the former head of the Vatican's
Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers. The cardinal
was reiterating the Catholic teaching that states that any sexual
activity outside of marriage that is not repented of before death is a
mortal sin, and therefore precludes entrance into heaven.
In his comments published on the Italian online news site, Pontifex,
the cardinal also pointed out that Catholic Church does not condemn
the condition of being a homosexual as such. Instead, it is homosexual
acts themselves that are mortally sinful.
"People are not born homosexual," Cardinal Barragan was quoted as
saying. "They become homosexual, for different reasons: education
issues or because they did not develop their own identity during
adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and
the dignity of the human body is an insult to God."
While the cardinal's statement of Christian sexual ethics was
expressed with theological precision, the world's media and
homosexualist groups have reacted with shock and outrage. The Italian
homosexualist activist organisation, Arcigay, issued a statement
saying, "Yes, it's true, we won't ever get into your heaven, which is
a murky and unjust place."
Cardinal Barragan's reference to St. Paul was mostly likely from the
saint's letter to the Romans, in which he rebuked those who indulge in
a variety of sins, one of which is homosexuality. St. Paul wrote, "The
wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth." The result of this
denial is for these people to be given over to "degrading passions."
The letter continues: "Their women exchanged the natural function for
that which is unnatural. And in the same way also the men abandoned
the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward
one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in
their own persons the due penalty of their error." Also condemned in
the passage are greed, envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice, gossip,
slander and disobedience to parents.
Barragan's reference to the disorder of homosexuality is reflected in
the Catechism of the Catholic Church, published during the pontificate
of John Paul II, that says that while the "psychological genesis" of
the homosexual inclination "remains largely unexplained," the acts
themselves are "acts of grave depravity," and are "intrinsically
disordered."
"They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to
the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and
sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved."
The Catechism goes on to say that homosexuals, like all persons who
want to live ordered lives, are called to "chastity" and "the virtues
of self-mastery."
Cardinal Barragan also reiterated the section of the Catechism which
urges against discriminating against homosexuals, saying that, "This
does not justify any form of discrimination."
"We on earth cannot condemn, and as human beings we all have the same
rights."

Isn't it odd that couples known to be sterile
aren't charged with those same violations?
That makes it clear that the Church's position is
not about reproduction, it is about bigotry.
> The Catechism goes on to say that homosexuals, like all persons who

Isn't it a shame that most homosexuals don't have
an entire religious power structure dedicated to
protecting them, as some Catholic child molesters do?

Hypocritical bullshit. Barragan is justifying
discrimination himself.

Women can't be priests. Homosexuals can't be married.
Seriously, Catholic Church, go fuck yourself. We
don't need your hypocritical papist bullshit
polluting good peoples' lives.

Pray for Goppers the way they pray for Obama! Psalm 109!
They'd only be "active" if they died while making whoopie.
If they were making toast or clipping the hedges, they'd
slip through the heavenly turnstile like a kid with a
three-day pass at Disneyland.
I wonder if they have their own heaven, assuming they
don't get into yours.
If they do have another heaven, I bet it's better.
I wonder if God knows that.

What does he have to say about ecclesiastics who conspire

Heaven is right here on Earth. It's called "life". And the best part
about it? It's not forever.
I don't understand. Why should we care what he thinks?
snip of way too much nonsense.

How could any priest or cardinal or any spokesperson say anything good
about homosexuals. It would be against their religion. Far more
interesting would be if any person for the catholic church could state
they have proof and give proof that heaven exists, who has made it to
heaven and the surprises of those we thought that did make it to heaven
but that God knew something we didn't and stopped his entry - like the
secret life of a guy like Tiger Woods. Now that would news.
And the catholic church says no human female can have an abortion even
if she is mentally retarded and has be raped by one individual or gang
of men.
The catholic church says that birth control is out of the question so
that if a couple have more kids than they can feed or support and the
chilren starve to death, that is okay because they died of natural
causes.
It seems reasonable that catholic homosexuals are bound by the church
and many of them are priests who tell the heterosexual society they
can't use condoms and can't get a divorce or the women can't have an
abortion. While that is terribly, terribly worng, it is sort of odd
that the homosexuals of the church tell heterosexuals hwo to live their
life. And people pay the church monthly to live this way. Fact is
stranger than fiction.
If the only people who make it to heaven are good catholics, then what
homosexuals would want to join them. If catholics don't like homos on
earth, they most certainly won't be nice to them in heaven.
It would be awesome if the catholic church reminded society that the
priests and church member who sexually asaulted young members of society
and their congregation will not be
able to make it to heaven because of their sins. No catholic person in
authority has ever said that as far as I know.
Awesome, so you can screw little girls and little boys until you are on
your deathbed and then tell a priest you are repenting for the sin of
sexually raping hundreds or thousands of little boys rectums and little
girls torn vaginas and you can get to heaven. No wonder homosexuals
don't want to go there. Let the heterosexual parents of these raped
children share a house with these sexual repentent people who make it to
heaven.

The catholic church is a private organization that can do what it
wants. In the same way it has a catholic graveyard it probably has a
catholic heaven.

Let us help the cardinal along. Homoesexuals become homosexuals because
the father is too busy drinking in the car, on the road or watching tv
instead of
taking a interest in his son. It is that simple.
It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and

Well, there is no proof that anyone gets into heaven and for any person
to say I will get into heaven but you wont' is impolite and
inappropriate.

I like gossip. That is a good one. Some of the nicest people I know
are religious people who gossip about the sins of others.

Awesome just what little catholic boys should read. And does the next
unquoted paragraph say that all catholic men who think they are
homosexual should quickly sign up for being a priest so they don't have
to pretend they are heterosexual and take a wife.

Sadly, the only people who should be chast in life are heterosexuals
becuase the planet is overpopulated.

Awesome. Considerng some of the comments made by people of the catholic
religion,
I must remember that they religion does not justify discrimination of
homosexuals in any form.

Yes, you have said it, homosexuals have the same rights as
heteroseuxals. Cannada did it right.

What is "the natural law"?
Maybe a catholic here can explain that......
>Vatican Cardinal says Active Homosexuals Can't Go to Heaven
That rules out pretty much the entire RC clergy...
Come, Sir, a mere 48 percent. . . .
In Catholicism, nothing can keep you out of Heaven if you confess and
receive absolution, even if you do it on your deathbed after
committing
unspeakable crimes your entire life. It's funny that Jack Chick
hates Catholics so much, since they both believe that good or
bad works ultimately count for far less than the right magic words.
They do have sins that result in automatic excommunication, but
that's mostly reserved for very serious crimes, like fucking
with those little crackers:

The problem is, according to the myth, all one needs to do to be saved
is believe in Jebus. Unless one commits the ultimate unforgivable sin
of blaspheming the holy ghost, you're in no matter what you've done.
Geez, just imagine what the general population of "heaven" would be
like if it actually existed...

Active or passive homosexuals is not the issue.
God makes it clear that a man can only lie with woman and this must be in
marriage situation.
God created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve.
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination
Leviticus 18:22
13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them
have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their
blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13
Hell of fire was not created for human beings. It was created for satan and
his demons.
Only the impenitent human beings who refuse to accept the way back to God
and decide to follow satan will end up at satan's final rest.
It is the impenitent sinner that sends himself to hell through his
disobedience.
That's an outright lie.
>22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination
>Leviticus 18:22
If you'd actually read the Bible instead of just parroting hate
propaganda then you'd know why Leviticus doesn't apply. But you're
one of those Jesus despisers who cares more about hate than truth.

Catholics pay money to a priest to have the priest tell them how to life
their life.
If catholics have only 2 kids, then they are probably using birth
control but if they aren't using birth control, they have more kids than
they can afford to feed. How could
any catholic make logic out of life if they are suffering from both
sides.
Maybe that is why they want so much money from the parishioners so the
clergy can buy their way into heaven.
And where does "he" say this? Yeah, like there's a god with a pen writing
down little rules. Man wrote the bible, based on the world around him at the
time he was writing it. It's just ancient mumbo jumbo.

And yet, I bet you have no qualms about wearing cotton/wool mix shirts or
eating pork or oysters, have you? You ignore EVERYTHING in your so called
"good book" that doesn't suit you and twist the rest to your own evil
selfish needs, as all christians do.
According to your precious leviticus, you're damned for mixing different
types of textile in the same garment! How PETTY is that? And yet it appears
to bear the same punishment as being homosexual.

Come now. The Pope specified that their sexual activity has to be "not
repented of before death" I'm sure that the majority of those priests
feel badly about what they have done. It's just that rather than embrace
their homosexuality, or seeking medical help for pedophilia, they believe
that highly concentrated, daily doses of denial will keep them pure.
We've seen how well THAT works.

Why don't Gays rewrite the definition of HELL and make it a GAY heaven.
The Liberals rewrite history and definitions all the time.
As if that is beneath conservatives, yea, right . . .
Everybody participates in the drift of language. Definitions
is all people like yourself have. Cars, computers, anesthesia,
the internet itself are the results of actual work with actual
objects. All you have is your bullcrap definitions. Control
of stupid and damaged people is the only thing that definitions
can accomplish.

Screw definitions. What counts is the healthy functioning of the people.
> Seems to work on Liberals with all their Politically Correct language,

Languages change constantly. The meanings of words
change over time. Like it or not, there's nothing you, I,
or anyone else can do to stop it. It's what languages
do. The word "silly" used to mean "blessed, holy".
"Nunnery" was once slang widely used to mean
"brothel". The word "literal" is changing, during
my own lifetime, into its exact opposite.
You seem to think there's some Covert
Liberal Cabal for the Devaluation and
Desensitization of the English Language,
who somehow have the magical power to
make everyone else use words the way they
wish. Doesn't work that way. How it DOES
work is that if enough people begin using
an old word in a new and different way, and
its new meaning becomes widely understood,
then the word has acquired a new and additional
meaning.
And that's what happened with "gay".
Just as it happened with words like "girl",
which at one time could refer a young child
of either sex, or "fond", which once meant
"crazed" with infatuation.
