The Long Ladle Review:
Issue 1, Monday 14 October 2002
===============================

*Hagbar - 2 questions about poetry (aapc)*
To start our sojourn across the wastes of usenet poetry, here is a long
thread which begins as a couple of newbie questions on poetry and soon
descends into a miasma of the bizarre and the grotesque. Excellent usenet
fodder, in the Ladle's view.

*RSommo - Sub Autumn (aapc)*
Poetry is what we seek, and when we stumble on a post from ms robin, poetry
is what we find. This is a particularly nice poem from ms robin on the
subject of autumn (fall), with an intriguing modern twist within its folds.

*JAS Carter - Are you a poet, or do you just write poetry (aapc)*
Ms julie is rightly famed for her penetrating questions and challenges.
Here the Ladle finds ms julie generating a long thread with some intriguing
views within its contusions.

*George Tolis - Threat (aapc)*
Despite rumours to the contrary, workshopping still occurs in the bowels of
aapc. To demonstrate, the Ladle has found an interesting work in progress
from mr george, generating a fair amount of critical commentary.

*Beth Gottschalk - Willow in Winter (rap)*
It is good to see poetry alive and kicking in that old gunslingers' saloon,
rap. In particular, the Ladle was glad to find this short, tight poem from
ms beth.

*Bolduc619 - The Maryland Shootings (rap)*
Another topically tight, short poem, this time from mr david, generating a
contentious thread in response. Bravo!

*Preston Mark Stone - From Bottles (rap)*
No link to offer for this gem of a poetry sequence (the Ladle thinks mr
preston may have set his no-archive flag), but that only makes it more
important - in the Ladle's view - for people to invest in a good newsfeed,
to ensure excellence such as this is served direct to the screen. Googlers
may wish to search out for reflections of the original in other posters'
responses.

*Sophie - national poetry day request (aapc)*

posters: post one of their favourite poems, in celebration of the UK
