"Sweeney Shall Save Us Yet": The Development of F.R. Scott's Social
Vision In His 全weeney' Poems
by Daniel Sendecki
F.R. Scott makes great poetical capital out Eliot's Sweeney, not as a
figure that is representative of modern vacuity, but as a figure by
which to satirize the pretensions of the elite. Thus, these poems owe
something to the Sweeney poems of T.S. Eliot but they are so saturated
with Scott's own social vision that they may stand on their own...

2. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We at sendecki.com value art and poetry that is original in its choice
of subject and/or its approach to it. We prefer work that explores
different and/or unconventional, yet engaging, aspects of life. We
want poems from imaginative and unconventional writers; we want voices
from diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
What We Are Looking For:
Anything that excites us.
Things to avoid:
The trite and the sentimental. Archaic language, and the
self-consciously
"poetic". Inverted syntax. Rhyming, unless it's done well. Political
propaganda. Harlequin romance. Song lyrics. Haiku. Hallmark verse.
Poetics We Recognize:
Modern & Post-Modern forms: i.e. Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams,
H.D., Mina Loy & after. Blaise Cendrars, Artaud, Emily Dickinson, Walt
Whitman, William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, etc. etc. etc.
Note: we will consider work that has already appeared elsewhere. If
the work you submit has been published elsewhere, be sure to indicate
where and when and who holds the copyright. If we do accept the work
we will need to obtain permission to have it reprinted. We give full
and prominent credit to the original publisher.
