Billingham's Tom Thorne, coming to tv in 2010

David Morrissey is to play Mark Billingham's Tom Thorne. Mark reports on
Facebook that "the TV series is in production and will probably be on screen
in late Autumn next year..."

I hugely admired Morrissey's work in "State of Play" and, in my opinion,
this casting choice is excellent. Not exactly who I pictured as Tom Thorne
myself, but it'll grow on me. Can't wait!

Somehow I'd forgotten that Mark did talk about this over a year ago on his

After looking him up on imdb, I now know who he is. One of those actors who
has been in busy doing secondary parts in films for years, so a familiar
face to me, but not much more. I'd say his age and looks are close enough,
and in some of the stills, he looks even better than close enough. Very
promising, I'd say.

Mark and David are both producers on the series. That should ensure
that the telefilms stay faithful to the books. The writers have done
good work on British crime television in the past.
