I'm re-reading *The Hobbit*, and I've got *The Lord of the Rings* all
lined up for another reading... working my way slowly through Dickens's
stories for Christmas (one-volume collection, including *A Christmas
Carol*), and picking and choosing amongst essays on writing in hopes of
re-energizing my creativity.

in paperback.

I'm reading Johnny Come Home, by Jake Arnott. He did a London crime
trilogy that was really good. A part of it, The Long Firm, was made into
a series by the BBC, I believe.

This one takes us into the 70's, both the sleaze and the emergence of
terrorism. Not far in, but enjoying it a lot so far.

The Federal govt is shut tomorrow in the DC area, so no work! On the
downside, we have 16 or so inches of snow on the ground.

I'm reading Johnny Come Home, by Jake Arnott, and enjoying it a lot. He
did a great London crime trilogy, parts of which (The Long Firm) ended
up as a BBC series, I think.

This one is about the 70's in London, and it jumps into sleaze almost
immediately, though that is not the core of the book. He makes some
interesting connections between the lost hopes of the 60's and the
emergence of terrorism in the 70's.

Not sure what else I'll read for Xmas, but I have a large TBR pile right
now. And...... work is closed tomorrow, yipee!
