Actually, I've met no one face to face, but I would like to.

I guess many of us were envious of the crowd who went to B-con and met each
other... We can only hope for more such opportunities! Anyone coming to
Charlotte, please let me know...
M'Lou
(I don't have a room to offer, but I can make some real good restaurant
suggestions!)
Yeah that was nice! We should chat again, making sure to discuss
business of course!

I guess no one is surprised that I haven't met any of you in person, but I
sure would like to!
Fran (feeling a bit isolated!)
Well Fran, if it makes you feel any less isolated I thought of you yesterday
doing the Sunday puzzle. The clue was highest peak in Tasmania - I didn't know
it of course!
Oh gosh Carleen, not again. Of course I thought of the same thing.
sue k
does your paper run the NY puzzle a week behind like mine does? and yes, you
and I are playing the twilight zone theme way too much aren't we?
Andi, Babe, we met twice at B-Con. Right after the brunch when you were
trting to pick which mug to take home. I suggested the one with the
motorcycle. Also met you in the dealer room breifly.
Boy, and that might explain the lack of phone calls from Andi....
Jon
I met a fair amount of RAMmer's at B-con. Including some lurkers! They
recognized the NoDoze on my name tag. I met;KS, Katy,Keith,And,Ruth(who
got to see Ian Rankin grab my butt), Barry(who got to see Katy grab my
butt),Jandra,I already knew Kathy(KASpurr), and a few others.
Jon
Ruth is right. I may have been the only sober RAMmer at B-Con!
And Jane should come to Denver! We can even spot here points when we go
bowling.
Jon
Mt Ossa. Is it too late?
About 2% of Tasmanians, I reckon!

It would only be too late if that was the only clue I hadn't gotten (wait a
sec, falling on floor laughing) - it tends to sit in front of the couch til the
next week's comes in...I knew it started with O if that counts for anything!!

Watch out for the two burglars trying to break in. Hope you rigged all the
booby traps (especially the marbles on the stairs. I like the marbles on
thee stairs....)
So with Rondy fever making me extra feverish today I would like once
again to encourage those of you thinking of coming to Anchorage next
February to consider staying a extra day at least and seeing at least
the first day of Rondy. OF course my favorite stuff happens the last
weekend , because that's when the mushing World Championship is run.
Ooooo what a great first heat we had today.
But here's what was available the first day of this year's Rondy.
Alaska the Greatland film
Crafts sale, crafts Exhibit Egan Ceneter, same place every year (across
the street from the hotel where the convention is is being held)
Antique Show and Sale at the University Center lots of Alaskana
Aurora Demonstration at the Imaginarium about 2 blocks from the hotel
Bing
Carnival (this is ferris wheel etc.) You haven't lived until you've
ridden a ferris wheel at zero degrees
Dog sled rids at the Park Strip (5 blocks from the hotel)
Earthquake exhibit ( about 4 blocks from the hotel)
Fur Rondy Magic Show
Fur Rondy Melodrama (different eachyear) about 5 blocks from the hotel
Fur Rondy Storytelling Contest (local bar on the bus route)
Snow Scupture contest (3 blocks from the hotel)
Model Train exhibit (also 3 blocks from the hotel)
Helicopter rides for $25 per person
Horse Drawn Carriage Rides (another thing you must experience at zero
degrees)
Ice Bowling at the Peanut Farm another bar just down the street from the
Storytelling contest
Juried Amateur Photo Contest
Native Arts and Crafts Show (Dimond Center) a bus ride from he hotel for
$1
Native Musicale - Native Indians and Alaskans performing country, folk
and hymns in their native languages
Oyster Shucking Contest at the Sea Galley restaurant
Snowshoe Softwball 9 blocks from the hotel
Anchorage Museum prsents History of Fur Rondezvous, the dogs
Junior World Championship Sled Dog Race Tudor Track on the bus route
Kids under 15 racing 1 or more sled dogs
Womens World Championship Sled Dog races same location
Senior Art Show at the Senior Center, short bus ride
FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA - Nothin like fireworks on a clear and crispy
February night. Can be seen without leaving the hotel (l block away)
Prospectors Costume Ball
Jim Beam Jam - Opening night party across the stree from the hotel
immediately after the fireworks.
And that's just on Friday
on saturday
FFrostbite Footrace
Pool Tournament
Second heat, Junior World Championship sled dog races, Womens World
Championship sled dog races
Torchlight Ski Parade at the University
Miners and Trappers Ball (No chance you can attend that but you can see
it on TV)
Fur Ball (this is a dance, not a tribbles convention)
Jor Rondy - Skijor Race
Rondy Grand parade right outside the hotel
Fur Rondy Beer Drinking Championships
Extreme Boarding
Angique Car Show and Sale short bus ride from the hotel
Tesor Rondy Grand Prix - Car races right outside the hotel oor
Stewarts Wild Game Barbeque - your chance to eat moose and caribou,
probably not reindeer though
Fur Rondy Foosball Championships
Big Dogs Weight Pulling Contest (like in the Jacck London story)
Most of this stuff is free fund. Your only cost is an extra night at the
hotel but you'd have to make reservations early because Rondy is the
third largest carnival in the world. Folks fly in from all over the
world to attend and room reservations need to be made early. There's
limited floor space at my house. :D And you risk being danced on in
the dark by a couple of airedales.
