THE BOOK AND ART SHOP

Actually, there used to be a shop called exactly that in Dothan, Alabama, ten
miles away from the big city of Cottonwood, AL (pop.1000) where I grew up. I
remember thinking that while I loved both, their juxtaposition was perhaps an
anomaly.

But...today I took a workshop that was focused on handmade books - from the
artist's standpoint, and both books and art were nicely combined. We each made
three blank books, with emphasis on creating a book that fit the content.
Since we were learning techniques, we didn't put images in yet, but today was a
very pleasant day, and to paraphrase Ratty and Mole (I think it was), "There is
nothing so pleasant as messing about with books."
