AVATAR = Hybrid Western set in Outer Space

The 1952 western *High Noon* became the 1981 sci-fi movie *Outland*
The 1960 western *The Magnificent 7* became the 1990 sci-fi movie *The
Battle Beyond The Stars*
But if you cross the 1970 western *A Man Called Horse* with the 1990
western *Dances with Wolves* you get the sci-fi movie *AVATAR*

Proof positive, that the more things change the more they stay the same.

True enough. I did enjoy the effects they were incredible. The
details of the forest was amazing. And the 3-d was really cool. The
ashes from fires drifting down on you. Much different from the 3-D
when we were kids. But, the story did drag on a bit.

3D? Not in the little theater where I saw it. It still blew me away.
I didn't find the story dragging, but I like my books long and detailed.
Dragging for comic book fans, I'm sure.
