Chris Borgen, former detective and crime reporter for local WCBS New York
City news (retired 1995) passed on Friday. His obit is in today's NYTimes,
funeral tom Thurs. Let's see if I have the link correct:

And I don't know how to cut and paste, sorry. Maybe someone could help out,
I'd appreciate.
He was a really interesting person and passionate about his work. My
brother worked with him on many stories. Chris used to come to our house --
he was always so nice to me. And he had a wonderful voice - deep,
well-modulated.
There's another, longer obit and interview with his son, clearly proud of
his father, in the Bergen Record.
scroll down on left to obituaries, click and it'll show up in middle of
screen.
I felt sad yesterday bec it's another link w/my dad and family stuff gone
... yet reading the obit and story in the Bergen Record cheered me bringing
back nice memories. He was patient with a gawky teen-ager ...

This happened in Spanish Harlem -- in a really rough tough area. It
was one of the first stories my brother did with him. This guy was fearless
pursuing a story. Amazing how calm he was in talking down people. Yet he
was also one to yell over the wall! pursuing some suspect or to get the
story, and my brother would look at the heavy portable camera (back then),
batteries, etc. and go, yeah, right. Some perps held some hostages in North
Jersey and requested Borgen come and hear them out. Lots of war stories. I
kind of pushed a lot of these stories and escapades way back to get through
the parental caretaking - both my father and brother did similar work, with
my brother often working with people my father worked with or started out
with.
Thanks, Mique!
