Ah, I just got an email from Amazon telling me my order is on its way. My
order is Susan Boyle's first album, "I Dreamed A Dream."

I am listening to it as I type this!
Am loving "You'll See" and "Who I Was Born To Be".

And I got one from Amazon, but about Adam Lambert's glamtastic debut.
A fine season.

Susan's album is on my wish list!

Hmm. Listened to clips from Adam's new album, and....well, I don't care for
the songs chosen. I like his voice, just not this collection..

My DW got hers today. Lovely! (is it wrong that I "snuck" it to put
on my iPod, too?)

Got the Susan Boyle CD yesterday for Sonia and both enjoyed it last
night. This is a performer you want to love and most of the CD is
excellent with only minor reservations. She seems to do best with
"high drama" songs and full orchestra but fades a bit when a trio
provides the backing. The selection of material seems odd.
"Daydream Believer" is a horrible arrangement and best skipped; the
timing of "Silent Night" is strange, enough to be irritating - you
keep waiting for it to be corrected in each verse. With "How Great
Thou Art" the full verses would have been appreciated.

All the negative comments are petty. You want this lady to succeed. I
personally think the video of her first contest appearance is one of
the most wonderful moments of television, one that sends a shiver
every time I watch it. If only on the basis of that one appearance,
we both would buy this album as a show of support for her future
career.

Finally my Susan Boyle CD arrived. And, as usual, I had a hard time getting
the plastic wrapper off of it. Do others have as hard a time as I do
peeling the plastic off. The thin strip glued to the top is the worst.

A sharp-pointed knife (steak knife, e.g.) is the secret. Get the
tip in under the wrapping and once you have it under, start
cutting (carefully) sideways. As to the label on the top, same
thing even more carefully, and you still have to peel it off in
fragments.

I find that one of the new fangled letter openers works pretty good for
this. The kind with the sharp plastic point that leads to a small razor
blade. Once you get the point into the plastic you can zip though the rest
pretty quick. One of my pet peeves of the modern age is the dfficulty of
opening things. I have a sturdy paor of scissors in nearly every room for
this task. Take care
