Some of the RAMmers present in Baltimore are busy snapping away with
their digital cameras, as you might imagine.

We have set up a group on Flickr to act as a common repository from
which to view these photos. Well, Kat set it up. I think. I just
joined it later (on my way to set one up myself). Kinda like one them
deals where you want to post something, but you look first to see if
anybody else posted it already?

Any whooo, here 'tis:

http://flickr.com/groups/909551@N21/

There are a few photos there already, and more on the way. I'm sure
there will be a huge flurry next week once everyone gets home and
downloads all their pix off the cameras.

Enjoy. Risque comments encouraged.

Cheers,
--Jeff

Thank you, Jeff!!! I have been trying to get online. but there's
internet in the lobby, not in the room (without paying the piper,
anyway). Here's a bit of the letter I've been trying to send for two
days:

Hello all! We wish you were here! It's been a blast so far--who has
time to go to panels! Jon and Ruth have worked so hard and it shows.
Things are running pretty smoothly on the whole, and if there have
been ripples, the rest of us haven't been made even remotely aware.
The venue is lovely, the folks in Baltimore have been on their best
behavior and treated us like honored guests of the city, and the city
center itself has been a treat to wander about. The bookbags are
large and were filled with a lovely collection of books that will
irritate the snot out of NorthWest, in conjunction with the goodies
that I have yet to get. There was a strong turnout for the awards
Thursday night. To name names would be rather show-offish, but it’s
been pret-ty cool rubbing elbow with the likes of Laura Lippman and
Mark Billingham! Even our ol’ GRITS, Karin Slaughter has been
flitting about. There has been much eating and celebrating. Not much
sleep, though.
Jim Barker's posters and T-shirts, fridgy magnets, keychains and
BOTTLE OPENERS have been whipping off the Crimespree table. During
the day folks have been manning the table a bit to help out--I don't
think Jon had been away from it all morning--and it's sort of become
RAM central...besides the bar. Working the T-shirt desk was fun and
made for a new segue to an introduction.
Yes, there will be pictures. There will be stories. But there's no
internet in the room, so I have to write now and send this in the
morning. During a panel, most likely. So tata, folks!
(Oh, and the Reacher's Creacher's party was the BOMB!)
If I list all the RAMmers, I'll be here all night and it's 1:40
according to my computer, which is also whining that the battery is
dying. Stoopid Internet not in the room!

I just spent one day at Bouchercon, and wow - what fun! It was so
wonderful to finally meet all the folks I've known for years. The
"warm and fuzzy clique" that is RAM was just as warm and fuzzy - and
possibly warmer and fuzzier - in person.

Oh, and that book room they've got there is dangerous. I ended up
with at least 50 lbs. of books that I could barely carry. Had I
stayed there for longer than one day, I would have required a
suitcase.

*nods* Yup, I hear that. There's a reason I used to take an empty rucksack
with me, it was always full on the return trip :D

I have photos of the crab cake parade, but since I only just got home,
they'll have to wait a bit.

I just added a few more pix.

There will be many more later in the week I am sure.

I have been having problems getting on RAM (and all of the Internet--
my computer had a hex put on it at the hotel or something). Until I
find out whether it's because Charter dropped newsgroups or my
computer is just freaked, I have to stick to Google groups. Anyway, I
upgraded to the premium Flickr account so that we can post 'til the
cows come home, and then some.

Hi everyone,

We're back... it was a long road trip.. but I have my 72 Bouchercon photos
all up here at my site
http://flickr.com/photos/anniechernowpics/sets/72157608066304031/

I've had some difficulty getting them into the bigger flickr pool because,
well, I'm doing something wrong. But will eventually figure out what that is
;-) Only about half as many this year as usual, many did not turn out due
to poor lighting.. I am just not fond of digital cameras and did better back
in the day with my trusty Nikon SLR.. oh well.

But what a super time it was seeing so many of my RAM friends! I'll say more
later because because I'm fading here.. not feeling well today and think I
may have the flu or some bug coming on..Plus I have no voice at all..

Enjoy the pics and I'll be back later.. and apologies for not identifying
everyone in the RAM Bcon Class phots yet, but I will asap. (Karin S is
hiding behind Sal Towse in #3 version, if that's any help ;-) More later...

Cheers,

Annie

My strategy this year was to put off buying anything as long as possible. I
barely went into the dealer room before Saturday afternoon, but still ended
up with uncomfortably heavy luggage. The book bag was a nice one this year
(thank you, MWA).

One of the reasons I barely went into the dealer room was because the
Crimespree table was right outside the door and it was easier to just plop
myself down there and wait for the convention to come by. Great fun that
was.

Very nice, thanks, Annie.

I didn't realize that Larisa was giving Kat horns in that one
picture. Heh.
