Does anyone know if John Mahoney, who played her father,
has appeared in anything else?
I normally dislike romance-type films because they become
overly sentimental, leading the actors to become sloppy,
but "Say Anything" is terrific. (Peter Gabriel on the
soundtrack doesn't hurt, either!) One last question: I missed
the director in the credits, who is he/she?
(John Cusack is an easy one to answer: Grifters, Bullets over
Broadway, ... I think his family lives right here in Evanston.)

Around the same time she appeared in "The Rachel Papers". She also had a
cameo in "Wayne's World".

Ione Skye's still around - since "Say Anything" she's had a few films,
such as "Gas Food Lodging" and "Guncrazy". Skye also has a brief
cameo in "Wayne's World", where she's in bed with Rob Lowe at the start
of the film as they channel-surf and come across the "Wayne's World" TV
show.
A full listing of her filmography can be found in the Cardiff Movie Databse.

Ione Skye stared (or co-stared) in a movie called "Gas, Food, Lodging" which
came out in 93 or 94. It has been on cable and should be in the video
stores by now. (There is even a brief brest-shot in a love scene).

I know an interesting thing about this film (which, I too, adore). The
characters besides Ione Skye and John Cusack's are real. In fact, they are
friends of friends. Cameron Crowe used to call up the Courtney character
(that's her real name, I can't remember if that's what they use in the
film--
the one with the guitar who sings songs to Joe all the time) and talk to
her
all the time.
This Courtney character is something else. I don't remember how she
actually met Cameron Crowe, but she also appeared on a local Philly TV
show
talking about kids and suicide. She was chosen from hundreds of
canidates, which is amusing since she never tried to commit suicide. She
was
(maybe is) just a great con artist. The movie, apparently, made her
actually more sympathetic than (at least my friends think) she truly is.
Curious. Great film anyway.
She was in an excellent little movie a while ago called "Gas, Food, Lodging"

It's late an my mind may be a bit addled, but if I'm not mixing names up,
he's playing Frasier's dad in "Frasier", and had a part in last year's
"Reality Bites"
: (John Cusack is an easy one to answer: Grifters, Bullets over

He also had a cameo role in an excellent movie from 1993, "Map of the
Human Heart"

In addition to everything mentioned in previous posts, she also
happens to be married to Adam Horovitz (sp) of the Beastie Boys. How's
that for a kicker?

She was in Alison Anders film Gas Food and Lodging. And will also be in
the four rooms project that Alison directed that was put together with
Tarentino. She just switched agents so hopefully we'll be seeing her
more.

Uh, no. The characters with speaking roles at the party are all actors
or entertainers by profession. They may also be Cameron Crowe's friends,
but he didn't round up a bunch of non-actors to play important parts in
his movie. He very well might have filled the slots for extras with
his friends, but I don't think that's what you mean.
As another noted, guitar-playing Corey is played by Lili Taylor, who
has been in many films, most recently Altman films Short Cuts and
Ready to Wear. The sick drunk kid is Jason Gould, son of Elliott
Gould and Barbra Streisand, who has been in a few other films.
D.C. (Lloyd's other buddy) is Amy Brooks, who was also in Broadcast
News, and who I suspect is related to (daughter of?) Albert Brooks.
Joe's new girlfriend is Chynna Phillips, better known for her
singing with the trio Wilson Phillips, but who has also been in other
films. Kim Walker was also in Heathers. Even the host of the party is
Eric Stoltz, nearly unrecognizable in a chicken costume. Actors all.

I haven't seen anyone mention GIRLS IN PRISON yet. It was one of the
made-for-cable series of films, "Rebel Highway" which played on
Showtime last fall.
Well, her father is the 60's singer Donovan ("Mellow Yellow," "Jennifer
Juniper," etc.). And for a while her brother Donovan Leitch, who was in
some DKNY ads with her, was involved with Susanna Hoffs (former lead
singer of the Bangles). She wrote the song "On My Side of the Bed" about
him. Later, of course, the split up and Hoffs married someone else.
