Actually, word of mouth *is* helping it. Everyone that I know who's
seen it (myself included) thinks it's one of the funniest movies
they've seen in awhile.. you have to get used to Sandler's
humor, though..
>And how many more Jim Carrey impersonators will we be getting?
Adam Sandler has been acting like that before anyone knew of Jim
Carrey..

Wasn't Sandler on that MTV show called 'Remote Control?' I thought he
had a lot of little characters like 'stud-boy'. Or do I have him confused
with someone else? Anyway, that was before 'In living Color' (although
after _Earth Girls are Easy_).

Huh?? I seriously doubt that AS was "well known" before JC was... Even
if he was, which he wasn't, JC has been "doing" JC for awhile.
Jim Carrey has been around for something like 10 years... What was that
SitCom he starred in... "The Duck Factory" I think...
I liked it !

Yeah, I agree.
I appreciate Sandler's humor (but then, I'm pretty wierd
anyway) and it definitely predates Jim Carrey's. (As any loyal watcher of
MTV's Remote Control can tell you. "Because I am....THE STUD BOY (silly
cross-eyed face accompanying)")
The Bomb
I think the point here is that Adam Sadler was doing his schtick way before
James Carrey became massively popular.
Sure, he was on In Living Color, but quite some time went by before he
became popular on the show, (as Jimmy-boy has said so himself, he was
known, at first, just as "the white guy"). Sadler was doing his bit on the
MTV gameshow Remote Control at about the same time.
And as for Carrey's appearance in Earth Girls Are Easy, it was minimal at
best. Certainly not a bowl-you-over, massively popular performance. I bet
you could count the number of reviews of that movie on one hand that did more
than mention his name!
Finally, as for Sadler seeing Carrey doing standup and copying him, well,
hell, I guess anything's possible. Unlikely, but possible. I don't seem to
remember Carrey exactly tearing up the comedy club circuit lo those many years
ago.

*Sorry*, I just meant before Carrey's household name status came about
with "Ace Ventura". My point was that Sandler is not a Carrey
impersonator, nor Carrey a Sandler impersonator. It's really not
fair to say otherwise..

Well, depending on where you live you may or may not remember Jim Carrey
"tearing up the comedy club circuit". He was very well known in the Southern
California area. Even compared to Martin Short at times. I think the
point has been missed here. The first poster DID make it seem like Adam was
around a lot longer than Jim. When in fact that is not true. And regardless of
whether you liked "Earth Girls..." or not, his performance was funny and
showed potential. Unlike Adam on "Remote Control", give me a break. I
always thought that show was embarrassing anyway. I don't even remember
Adam on it. I may not have known Jim Carrey by name, but when I first saw
him on "In Living Color" I knew immediately where I first saw him. Not so
for Adam. I always wondered how he got his start. I don't think he's that
talented.
