Does anybody have any information about the bridge bombing in
True Lies.

Specifically:
1) I assume this was the old "Seven Mile Bridge" that was
replaced by the new bridge in the last 10 years or so. Are
they now totally dismantling the bridge?

2) Were real warheads actually fired at the bridge? Or were
explosives attached to the bridge and "cosmetic" missiles fired
at it?

3) Hey - how about that limousine rescue?!?!?!

From a posting earlier by someone from Digital Domain, apparently this
scene was done with a model of a bridge which was blown up. The Harriers
and the missles were done using CGI and digitally composited onto the
film. Or perhaps the Harriers were filmed separately and composited also.
I know the missles were CGI.

About that True Lies bridge bombing scene: I remeber reading in I
believe Variety that they did actually blow up a section of bridgework
in somewhere like Central America or something which was a big
contribution to the film's reported enormous budget.

1) Most of the Harrier straight flight passes were real AV-86 Harrier
Jump Jets.
Plus, they borrowed one to be placed on a crane for the Arnie
shots in the cockpit.

2) The shots of the Jets approaching the bridge i would guess are real
Harriers approaching that bridge as charges blow it up and then
the missles are then added via Digital Domain's graphics team's

Just what I would assume to be true.

It was a model (look at the issue of EW w/ Susan Surandon on the cover -
contains a story about Cameron and TL). The sure-fire way to check for a
model is to look closely. In the shot on the other side of the bridge, when
the van and the debris is landing on the other side of the explosion, you
can tell it is a model. One key is water droplets - they'll be out of
proportion.
Also, the Harrier they hung by a crane was a model. Not only would a real
one have been too heavy, but too expensive, too.

Try somewhere like the Florida Keys. Yes, it _really_ is the keys.

Oh....Nope...that was the Florida Keys. Not Central America. Where did you come up with
something like that?
