I believe Kiefer Sutherland was over 6' tall, and they were engaged, so
maybe your theory holds true. Of course it would have to be a pretty
shallow person who would put place such a restriction for a potential
husband. Maybe she liked the guy for who he was and not how tall he was-
no that's in the movies, not reality :-)

You would not believe the amount of debate over how tall Arnold was in
misc.fitness. While many heights were given for the Austrian Oak, I think
the general conclusion was that he was about 5 ft 10 or 5 ft 11 inches and
that it is more of an illusion that he is taller than that. In fact,
many bodybuilders are not really all that tall though it helps
to be about 6 feet if you want to win competitions.

The tracing-system confused me, but I thought that they managed to trace this
call because the Bad Guy was on longer than he'd planned. Remember, Clint
got through to him and made him lose his cool for the first time, and they
started ranting at each other... That was my explanation, anyway.
Now, maybe someone can explain to me why the CIA didn't tell the Secret
Service that the fingerprint of the guy suspected of wanting to kill the
President matched that of one of their trained assassins? That bit really
baffled me.
And did anybody else know almost immediately that Clint's partner Al was
going to be killed? He reminded me strongly of a partner in one of the Dirty
Harry movies (maybe it *was* =Dirty Harry=), a dark-haired Spanish guy, who
has a wife and kid and is kind of goofy and reluctant, and eventually is
killed by the psycho -- I think it's Clint's fault in the other movie too.
And did anybody else think Malkovich's disguise as James Carney was really
not very convincing? He looked pretty much the same to me.
I enjoyed =In the Line of Fire= even though I thought it was predictable and
unrealistic. It was great Hollywood entertainment, and Eastwood is fun to
watch. As he gets older his face looks more and more like some kind of
natural rock outcropping.

First off, Chico (Clint`s partner in DIRTY HARRY) was not killed--he was
wounded and quit the force. Heather is quite correct to point out the
similarity with Tyne Daly's character in whatever Dirty Harry movie she
was in (sorry, can't remember the name--was it THE ENFORCER?). Second,
I knew Harry's partner was going to get killed the minute Harry pressured
him into staying. Otherwise, why have that scene? A big problem movies
(especially thrillers) have to deal with is the limited amount of information
and characters that can be put forth due to their limited time, and so
guessing what's going to happen is often a matter of just looking at
scenes and asking, Why is the director showing me this?

It's not like he had to run the Boston Marathon or do any powerlifting.
And he wasn't especially nimble in the running-across-the-roofs scene.
Most likely, being a real badass is more a matter of knowing what to do,
rather than looking like Jean-Claude VD. Not that I have any firsthand
knowledge of these things.

The CIA folks mentioned a category that sounded like "C-14" or something. I
assume this means that CIA folks can't normally reveal his identity, even to
the FBI.
: And did anybody else know almost immediately that Clint's partner Al was
: going to be killed?
Yup, yip, especially when Al starting talking about his wife and kids. I
felt like I was being hit over the head with a hammer labled "you sympathise
with him - he will die soon."
: I enjoyed =In the Line of Fire= even though I thought it was predictable and
: unrealistic.
Me too. I liked the scenes near the end where Eastwood shows his
vulnerability, where his mouth was trembling or where he was hoping Rene
Russo would look back at him at the steps of the Lincoln memorial. I liked
the little tidbits of info that come into play later on, like Malkovish
practicing the assembly of his gun without looking, or his putting bullets
in a rabbit-feet keychain.
I wonder how much Eastwood put himself into the character he portrayed.
Eastwood's an avid Jazz fan, he's getting old, etc. I assume these aren't
coincidental aspects of the character Eastwood played.

This 2nd one was Jeffery Lyon's "favorite scene of the year".
I liked it too, but C'mon Jeff! What a dork.

In the scene in the car Al tells Clint he is going to resign, and Clint

Daniel Pruitt | "Sometimes I think that love is just a tumor,

Actually, I consider it just gritty, realistic, mildly creative,
responsible journalism. You have to be willing to get your hands
dirty to dig up such carefully-concocted Hollywood scams that
claim that Redford is (ha-ha) over 3'6". The public deserves to
be informed of a particular worldview. Besides, we all should be
informed of the contributions and talents of the famous without
having to rely on myths Tinseltown-sanitized of idiosyncrasies,
peccadilloes (bird relative of the Texas rodent) and what-me-jollies.
You know what they say. Give a man a fish, and he'll eat that fish.
Teach a man to fish, and he might get another fish and give it to
you.
As an aside, did you know that Mickey Rooney ("The Roon") stands
6'2", over five inches taller than Arnold, walks on his knees 24
hours a day, and is over three hundred years old? Loni and Burt
split up over a gambling debt with Burl Ives? Ha. I thought not.
That's why she's staying over, in case you were curious. Ah, Hollywood.
Hope this helps.
