This Spring, Los Angeles will welcome the finest in independent film from
across the United States for the first annual Los Angeles Independent Film
Festival (LAIFF). LAIFF will bring together a group of L.A. based
non-profit organizations to support each other and independent filmmakers
across the country. LAIFF strives to showcase and celebrate the diversity
of American independent film. It will also provide many L.A. filmgoers with
the rare opportunity to see films that may go undistributed.

Los Angeles -- The first annual LOS ANGELES INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
(LAIFF) announces the remainder of their line-up including their closing
gala, Gramercy Pictures "New Jersey Drive," directed by Nick Gomez. The
opening gala will be Abel Ferrara's "The Addiction," starring Lili Taylor,
Christopher Walken and Annabella Sciorra.
Presented by the Filmmakers Foundation and the Independent Film Channel,
the LAIFF will showcase 14 feature films, two documentaries and 19 shorts
in 16 programs. The body of the festival, featuring seven world premieres,
will include:

The festival will be held on April 6-10, 1995 with the opening and closing
night events at the Directors Guild of America and the weekend programs at
Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.
Founding sponsors include The Independent Film Channel, the Directors Guild
of America and the Eastman-Kodak Company. Additional support is provided by
Absolut, BUZZ Magazine, the Chateau Marmont Hotel, Filmmaker Magazine, the
Los Angeles Reader, Pete's Wicked Ale, The Pogachefsky Company, Raleigh
Studios, Studio Film and Tape, Virgin Records, The William Morris Agency
and Pacific Ocean Digital.
The festival is endorsed by The American Cinematheque, Black Filmmaker
Foundation, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, Filmforum,
the International Documentary Association, Out on the Screen (formerly the
Gay and Lesbian Media Coalition), the National Latino Communications Center
and Women In Film. Each organization will host one program.
The festival's advisory board includes Allison Anders, Bill Duke, Diane
Ladd, Edward James Olmos, Michael Steinberg, Eric Stoltz, Forest Whitaker,
Alfre, Woodard; Sundance programmer John Cooper and San Francisco Film Arts
Festival Founder Robert Hawk; Filmmaker publisher Karol Martesko, agent
Bobbi Thompson and industry executives Fritz Friedman and John Pierson.
