I have a bet with my idiot of an office-mate. Are Steven Spielberg and
Kate Capshaw divorced, and if so, was the settlement $100 million?

Thanks, Michael

Nope, they're still together. Your officemate may be thinking of his
divorce from Amy Irving. I think she made a mint.

I can't tell if this means you loose the bet or not, but Spielberg and
Capshaw are still married. Spielberg has been divorced once, from actress
Amy Irving (she's the mother of his first kid, Max) and their divorce
settlement was rumored to be, well, generous. Spielberg and Capshaw
actually have some sort of clause in their prenuptual agreement whereby if
they get divorced within some number of years after the wedding date, she
gets lots of money, but if they divorce after that number of years goes by
(I think it's 5), she gets nothing.

I'm fairly certain that Spielberg and Kate Capshaw are still married,
unless I missed something recent. If so, someone please feel free to
jump in.

Perhaps the side betting on divorce was thinking of Spielberg and Amy
Irving?

Kate Capshaw was on David Letterman last week. From their banter
about "pillow talk", it seems that Capshaw and Spielberg are still
happily married.

Kate Capshaw was on Letterman about a week ago and still referred to S.
Spielberg as her husband.

Yes, they divorced and Spielberg married David Geffen.

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;)

When I saw Kate Capshaw on Dave Letterman promoting "Just
Cause" (Sean Connery, Laurence Fishburne) she talked about how
wonderful her marriage to Stephen Spielberg is. Dave made jokes
about Jurassic Park, etc. I hope that answers your question.

The hundred million bucks went to his first wife, when they divorced. That
actress. What's her name. Amy Irving? Somehow that doesn't look right.

Spielberg told Geffen and Katzenberg he'd start a studio only after he
cleared it with Capshaw and their kids. They are moving to NYC to
provide a better environment than LA for their kids. Capshaw converted
from Episcopalianism to Judaism for Spielberg. It seems to ME like they
are VERY committed to each other.

Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw are happily married. Steven and Amy
Irving are divorced and the settlement was about $95 million.
