Someone told me that Michael J. Fox and Courtney Cox are now a couple.
Last I knew, he and Tracy Pollan were happily married and raising
their kid up in Vermont or someplace.

More horrible is the incredible TV-is-life-ness of this whole thing.

Say it ain't so, joe!

It would seem so. I've been reliably informed that Courtney Cox is
hanging out these days with Michael KEATON.

Michael J. Fox, of course, played Alex Keaton ... likely the source
of the confusion.

Whew!

In an interview on Entertainment This Weekend, MJF talked about his
two movies opening this summer. He mentioned that figuring out what his
kid was going to be wearing was his greatest challenge and the intro
mentioned his wife tracy.

In case it isn't confused enough, Michael Keaton's real name is Michael
Douglas, a name he couldn't use professionally because Michael Demsky had
gotten to it first.

Also, Michael J. Fox's middle name is Andrew (hence "Andrew Keaton" for
Brian Bonsall's character on "Family Ties"); the "J." is his way of honoring
Michael J. Pollard.

Then there are Vanessa Williams the actress-turning-singer and Vanessa
Williams the singer-turning-actress.

I seem to remember that before he met Tracy Pollan, Fox *had* dated
Courtney Cox quite seriously. It was years ago but I imagine that's where
the confusion comes from.

Then there's the matter that Cox played Alex Keaton's girlfriend (first name
Lauren, last name lost from my memory) opposite Fox in the last season or two
of "Family Ties," following Tracy Pollan as his previous gilfriend Ellen Reed.

Yes and no.. From what I have heard (alt.folklore.urban motto if I ever
heard one), they had a few different girls, and one of them was going to be
selected to dance on stage..

it happened to be Courteney.. So it wasn't really spontaneous, but it wasn't
known beforehand WHICH girl would be selected.

Who's Michael Demsky?

If your are refering to Michael Douglas, son of Kirk Douglas, you are a
little bit off the mark.

Kirk Douglas's name at birth was Issur Danelovitch, not Demsky.
I assume that when his son was born he named him Michael Douglas not
Michael Danelovitch, but I might be wrong on that point.

Ah, the sweet innocence of youth. ;-) Actually, Springsteen used to
do that sort of thing in concerts (to the dlight of his female fans ...
during the disco days they pretty much kept his career alive!). But
it's too hard to film a real concert for a video unless you want to
put up with intrusive cameras all over the place.

Married Julianne Phillips (of Sisters fame) first, then married
Patti Scafalia (sp?) and they have 2 kids. She was in the E-Street

Bruce used to do a lot of things in concert that he no longer does, like jump into the crowd and have them carry him around the arena. He also used to talk to the crowd a lot more and he also used to play requests. The shows were a lot more spontaneous.
BTW, Springsteen has always had a hard core group of fans, kind of like the Dead, so this keeping his career alive BS is patently BS. Even during the post- Born to Run backlash, Springsteen had a loyal following. So take your fly by night attitude and
stuff it.

I saw an interview with her on tv once where she talked about this. She was
cast for the role and flown in to the concert. She was very nervous because
she felt she had no dancing ability, but they just told her to watch Bruce
and just copy whatever he did. I don't think she mentioned any other girls
being prepared to go up, but they might have planted more pretty actresses
in the front row for the camera to see.

True. I read once about how he was disappointed at having to adapt
his style to less personal stuff and more "theater" that would be
visible from the back of the mega-arenas he found himself playing
after "Born in the USA".

referring to the first name of one's father. Common suffixes for Russian

The ending "ski" is typically Polish/polish-bordery, "sky" and "chuck"
are more commonly Ukrainian. Finally, I can make an important,

Douglas's biography in Microsoft Cinemania says he was also
known as Isidore Demsky, that he was born Dec. 9, 1916, in
Amsterdam, New York, and that his birth name was Issur
Danielovitch.

No details, however, about the names.
