For instance, Jennifer Rubin (from "The Fear Inside" and "The Crush")
and Lori Petty ("A League of Our Own")
For a while I thought Dennis Quaid was Kevin Costner (but
now I have been enlightened - I have no idea why I was so blind)
Another example may be Gillian Anderson from the X-files (tv)
and the Saturn Girl (car commercial) though that is tv.
(They are in fact NOT the same person)
And what about Gabby Hoffman (i.e Uncle Buck) and the star of "Little
Big League" (what's his name?) They look like bro and sis, but I don't
think they are.
Any other suggestions?

Yes, it qualifies for the Oscars. For the most part, date of release
is the determiner, not date of creation. Given the perpetual shortage
of decent women's parts in today's films, Ms. Lange has a better than
decent chance of getting an Academy Award nomination for this film.

Actually, a little blurb in Variety this Sunday suggested that Orion
will put on the full-court press for a nomination for Jessica Lange.
Apparently they've got a pretty good shot at getting a bankruptcy
court judge to let them start producing movies again. If that happens,
they want to be credible in the artistic community, and one way to
do that is to show that they're still willing to spend the bucks to
push a plausible candidate for an Academy Award.
Lange has, incidentally, become highly plausible over the weekend,
given that the LA Film Critics gave her their award for best leading
female performance of the year. ("Pulp Fiction" won almost everything
else - film, Travolta for actor, director, script. Martin Landau won
for supporting male performance for "Ed Wood." Dianne Wiest won for
supporting female performance for "Bullets Over Broadway.")

In a recent interview, Patrick Stewart remarked that he has often been
taken for Ben Kingsley. I didn't see how anyone could confuse the two of
them until I nearly ran into them while they were making a personal
appearance at the new Sony Lincoln Theatres in NY City about a week ago.
They were standing side by side, joking and posing for a horde of
photographers. I have known brothers who looked less alike. They are the
same body type, same weight, same height, and equally bald. Stewart is
perhaps a tad better looking, but Kingsley seems to project a more
extroverted, witty persona. Dressed in similar (Armani?) clothes, they
reminded one of twins who had been dressed alike by their mommy.

Martin Sheen's real name is Ramon Estevez. I imagine Emilio took his
dad's real name because he liked the latin version better. Charlie
Sheen's birth name is Carlos Estevez, but just probably liked the stage
name better, plus I guess the notariety of the Sheen wouldn't hurt. I
don't know for sure why they chose the different names...this is just
speculation.

I think the release date, not the production date, is what counts
with Oscars. I thought BLUE SKY was a really fine film - particularly
the lead performances.
