Does this mean I should rent Three Men and a Baby or not? Will this
affect Cheers? What is the significance of the Christmas date do you suppose?
I just don't know...

What does his wife of many years say about this?

I think you are mistaken, since is married and has children.

But even if it is true, who cares?!

As are many gay men and lesbians.

Good question. A lot of gay people care.

Drag yourself into reality, pal.

Well to be technically correct then shouldn't they be called
bisexual, not gay?

Okay. It's less than 8 hours to the Academy Awards, and the news is filled
with the threats being made that gas will crash the awards and "out"
several stars.

WHO THE HELL CARES IF A MOVIE ACTOR OR ACTRESS IS GAY OR NOT? THE MEASURE OF
THEIR LIVES LIES IN THEIR WORKS, NOT IN THEIR CHOICE OF SLEEPING PARTNERS!

We like (or dislike) a movie star based on their talents and whether the
roles they portray touch us. I think that this "outing" is just a bunch of
spoiled little children committing what amount to an act of terrorism,
because life isn't what they think it should be!

I don't care if the people named sleep with elephants for kicks! This
attempt to wreak careers to force compliance with a particular point
of view or lifestyle is criminal. Worse, it smacks of the "Red Scare"
blacklists of the 1950's that ruined the careers of so very many talented
people,. Such harassment cannot and should not be tolerated! It threatens the
quality of the very medium of film.

To show my extreme distaste for these "outing terrorists" I will make it a
point to see the films of, and to write letters of support to, any persons
who are "outed" tonight, or anytime in the future. I am also sending/faxing
letters of support to the major studios, theatre chains, and video rental
houses to let them know that this "outing" will NOT change my ticket
purchasing/video renting habits one iota.

I ask that other movie buffs also participate in the above to demonstrate
to these "outers" that their actions will not represent a threat to be
feared by people working in the film industry. Let's "yank their teeth".

My understanding of the goal of "outing" is that it is to normalize
homosexuality. If stars are "outed" routinely and if people do as
you suggest then the goal of outing will be accomplished. You seem to
be under the misapprehension that the goal is to ruin people's careers.
Far from it ... . Your first (capitalized) statement is to be lauded.

As I understand it, the ORIGINAL idea of OUTING was to expose individuals
who were secretly gay and actively anti-gay. I've heard interviews about
certain agents, critics, and others that were gay but publicly stated either
distaste or actively work against people who were more openly gay. In that
capacity, to destroy hypocracy, outing serves a good purpose. To embarass
individuals publicly for the sake of a group boarders on the vicious. I for
one don't want details of my sexuality talked about...
