I *know* I've run into an Eddie Lomax character somewhere else in
literature/cinema, but I can't remember where. Can anyone help?
-Mark
My fault, Chris; what I wondered is not the name of the actor who played
Eddy Lomax, but where else in literature/cinema there is a character
named "Eddy Lomax." I think Grisham was alluding to another author's work,
but I can't make the connection.
Thanks.

the name sounds familiar to me too. what was the name of the main
character in 'death of a salesman'? it wasn't lomax, was it?

Loman. Willie Loman.
There's a folk historian named Alan Lomax, who's famous for
recording the work of some of the early Mississippi Delta blues
singers.

Wasn't this a character from a Stephen King book?....maybe
Christine?

You might be thinking of "Bernie Lomax" from "Weekend at Bernie's".
Maybe?

The title character of _Weekend at Bernie's_ was Bernie Lomax (played
by Terry Kiser). He was frequently referred to as "Mr. Lomax" or just
"Lomax" and "Bernie" and "Eddie" sound somewhat similar. I suspect
that this is the memory being tickled.

Eddie Lomax, as I'm sure 879,099,125,735,000,000 other people will tell
you, was a character in the movie The Firm.

Wasn't Eddie Lomax the main character in Weekend at Bernie's? No wait,
that was Bernie Lomax. Didn't he have a comedy show in the 50's? No wait,
that was Ernie Kovacs. Wasn't she in Vertigo? No wait, that was Kim
Novak.
Oh well, nevermind.
