I don't know if these have anything to do with it, but you
never know.

1) Quentin Tarantino helped with the scripting of "It's Pat !!"
the movie starring Julia Sweeney ( I know that no Tarantino
fan really wants to admit this but it's true).
2) When Harvey Keitel was on Saturday Nite Live, he played
in a scene with Julia Sweeney as "Pat" on an island. Harvey
insisted on kissing Pat in that scene even though Pat was
never supposed to kiss anyone. Harvey felt that his artistic
sense told him that they needed to kiss.

Now, these two items might have nothing to do with Julia
Sweeney's casting in PF, or they may have everything to do
with it. Either way, I also thought that she stuclk out, and
really did not belong there !!

Was there more to that scene than they showed in the movie? Like was
something cut? I thought it odd that Keitel says, "You do not have
character... you are a character." Or something, but we didn't really see
what made her a character. Seemed like something was missing.

I thought Sweeney was there because she seems like a fun gal.

I've read numerous accounts that Sweeny and Tarantino are good friends.

Well, it WAS a REALLY small part, so I don't see the damage that could
have been done. Besides, I think everyone is just objecting to her
because of her SNL/"It's Pat" baggage. But what if Travolta had been
cast as Vincent back in 1979 or so? Wouldn't everyone be saying that Vinnie
Barbarino had no place in such a quality film? People shouldn't have to
wait 15 years for a chance at respect.

There was much more to that scene than was shown. There's about 2 pages
of dialogue between Monster joe, his daughter and Keitel that was cut
from the movie. Buy the screenplay to read this part. But I thought it
fit in fine with Keitel's classy Winston Wolf character and after hearing
the phone conversation between Monster Joe and Keitel (well actually only
Keitel's side of it) I thought it was pretty obvious that he had a long
relationship with Monster Joe and therefore his daughter too.

Her and QT are good pals. I thought she was just fine, if it was an
unrecognizable actor, you wouldn't have needed anyone in the scene at all
except WW, JW and VV. She was just there. I liked it.

Jay

Quentin Tarentino did a polish on the script of "It's Pat!" and Harvey
Keitel played Pat's father, but his role was cut from the movie. Maybe
giving her a pointless role in Pulp Fiction was her penance for cutting
Harvey from her own movie.

I happened to love "It's Pat!", and I'm actually surprised so many people
who've seen it seem to loathe it.

thanks for saying that. I did too, and everybody that I have talked to
who has seen it also liked it, and so I have been a bit baffled by the
loathing. Our local film critic included it in his "best/worst of the
year" write-up as a film that had been unfairly dumped on (and dumped).
