There is a crewman on the B-52 with Major Kong (Slim Pickens) and Lt.
Zogg (James Earl Jones). I'm talking about the one who gives most of
the onboard announcements. Maybe he's the navigator, or radio or
radar operator, I'm not sure. There are several lieutenants in the
credits but I don't know which one if any is the one I'm curious
about. Nor do I recognize any of those actors.
So who played this guy? His voice is a dead ringer for William
Daniels, but I can't find any connection at Imdb.com or anywhere else
on the web.
If Daniels' name doesn't ring a bell, maybe this will:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0200122/
"Boy Meets World" (1993) TV Series .... George Feeny
"Knight Rider" (1982) TV Series (voice) .... K.I.T.T.
"St. Elsewhere" (1982) TV Series .... Dr. Mark Craig
1776 (1972) .... John Adams (MA)
Graduate, The (1967) .... Mr. Braddock
His first credit at IMDB is given in 1963, so he is old enough to have
been in Dr. Strangelove.
Thanks for any help.

"Amici e maccheroni: se non son caldi, non son buoni"
(Friends and macaroni are no good unless they're warm.)
Was that Peter Fonda? I was always under the impression
Peter Fonda was one of the crew members playing a
flight engineer who relays some information on fuel loss and
stuff like that, but I don't think his name is in the actual
credits of the movie.
Tim McIntyre played "Goldie Goldberg", who was on the intercom
a lot, is the same guy who did the voice of the dog in
"A Boy and His Dog, at least in the IMDB of my mind...

We were discussing this ourselves last night and we both agreed it had to be
William Daniels, (though he isn't credited at IMDB.) That character never
had any screen time as far as I could tell, always just the voice over the
intercom.

I'm not sure. They showed it twice on cable this weekend, and I
watched long portions of it both times. The second time I'm pretty
sure that the Daniels-sound-alike (or Daniels) was actually onscreen
for some of his dialog. And Major Kong mentions his name at least
once, but I couldn't remember it by the time I got back online.

Peter Fonda is NOT in "Dr. Strangelove."
I don't know who you're talking about but I've seen the film a dozen or more
times, and teach it regularly in my film classes. William Daniels is
*definitely* NOT in the film.
Nonetheless, you are incorrect. William Daniels has nothing to do with "Dr.
Strangelove."
In any event, all the actors heard on the intercom are
shown speaking as well; there was no unseen voice-over.
Probably the guy this thread is about is the Peter Fonda-looking
dude, but it's a little tough to figure out who the actor is
from the credits I have in the Alexander Walker book,
probably either "Frank Berry" or "Glenn Beck", though
there is no mention of the character name of "Sweet"
said in the movie, or "Alvarez" for that matter.
So we'll just have to conclude it was Dennis Hopper using
a pseudonym.

OK, you're probably right. So who IS the guy that sounds just like William
Daniels ??

I doubt it's Daniels. the guy who reads the first CRM message to Major
Kong sounds a bit like Daniels, so it's probably that actor.

I think that's Shane Rimmer - freaked me out a little because he's also
the voice of Scott Tracy from Thunderbirds (UK television series) which
was familiar to me from childhood. Weirdly the IMDB lists him as having
an uncredited role in Star Wars as well!
Matthew.
Beats me. I've followed Williams Daniels' career since "Captain Nice" and
even saw him on Broadway (in "A Little Night Music," not -- alas -- "1776")
but I've never been struck with ANYONE's voice in that movie as sounding
like his.
