I am not a regular reader of this newsgroup but I was
wondering whether anyone who reads it could help me
with a problem.
I saw a movie called "The Silent Flute" a few years ago.
It starred David Carradine and was written by Bruce Lee
and James Coburn. The plot involved the quest for enlightenment
by a young adveturer who journeyed across mystic lands fighting
strange beasts and discovering philosophical knowledge at the
hands of a blind flute-player (played by Carradine). What I
want to know is: what was the source for the sequence in the
movie involving a dialogue between the hero and the blind man
in which the hero impatiently tries to fathom out a series of
actions of the blind man before he has fully revealed their
meaning to the hero. The interesting thing (from my point of
view) is that this sequence in the movie parallels a narrative
in the Qur'an (the religious book of the Islamic faith) almost
perfectly whilst the movie appears to be based on Buddhist
philosophy. Could this mean that the same narrative appears in
both the Islamic and Buddhist literature ?
Since Coburn co-wrote the movie, I assume he has the answer to
this question.
Does anyone know how I can contact him, ie: address, or care-of
contact address ?
Many thanks (in advance)
Mustafa
