Yes it's more Blade Runner! ;)

Ok, the unicorn dream seems to be crux of the argument of whether Deckard
could be a replicant or not. Actually this may not help solve that at
all but is an interesting idea.

I seems really odd to me that Deckard would dream of a unicorn, even if
he's a replicant or otherwise. Do you suppose the unicorn represents
the electric sheep of "Do Androids Dream of ..." ?

If so, do replicants dream? Do the memories that they give replicants
include dreams? Could they dream of their own accord? What does
the book say, I havn't read it?

Maybe dreaming of unicorns makes Deckard human.

Maybe we find that androids (Deckard) do dream of things.

I think this is why we have a unicorn, it is obviously a dream and not
a memory. But I still havn't a clue why he would dream of this
mythical beast.

in the original story by P K Dick, the main premise if i remember correctly
was about the social problems dealt with by a crumbling society in the
future. one aspect of the novel not discussed in the movie was the
fact that in order to be socially acceptable people of earth had to
own a live animal. if you remember in the movie, they made the point
clear that most of the 'live' animals had been killed from the
pollution. Deckard in the novel had an electric sheep - his sheep wasn't
real. all during the novel the character is troubled by this and not
exactly being a member of society with respect to this. so, the
title is basically do androids worry about the stupid social problems
that people have.

please anyone out there correct me if im wrong. its been a good ten
years since ive read the book.

That wasn't true. It's true that all humans cared a great deal for
animals, but real animals were very rare and hard to find. I was very
confused by the Mercerism bit, but I'm sure about the animals bit.

What do you mean it isn't true? The whole crux of why Deckard took the job in
the book was for money to buy a REAL donkey. True, all humans cared about
animals, but for Deckard at least, it was very important for him to have
a real animal to replace his electric sheep.
