This reminds me of the time in Running Man wher Ben Johnson says to
Killian ... "I'll be Back!" and similarly in terminator 1 the terminator
also says this to an officer at the police station.

They never pressed one -- apparently John Hughes was worried about the
mix of songs in the movie being too eclectic to sell as an album. But
this is the list of what's used in the movie and where you can find
most of it:
1. SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK -- LOVE MISSILE F1-11 (DANCE MIX)
Scene: opening, after Ferris psychs his parents
from the "Love Missile F1-11" 12" (US), edited for the movie
2. THEME FROM "I DREAM OF JEANNIE"
Scene: when Ferris is trying to get Cameron to come over
from the TeeVee Toons album "Television's Greatest Hits, Volume II"
3. YELLO -- OH YEAH
Scene: "The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California"
from the Yello albums "Stella" and "One Second", and elsewhere
4. THE FLOWERPOT MEN (BET WATKINS/ADAM PETERS) -- BEAT CITY
Scene: aerial shots entering Chicago
From the "Janice Long Sessions" EP.
5. BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE -- B.A.D.
Scene: leaving the Ferarri with the Garage Psychos, heard on the radio
from B.A.D.'s first album "Big Audio Dynamite"
6. ARTIST/TITLE UNKNOWN ("Rooney's Theme")
Scene: Mancini-esque theme as Rooney stalks (he thinks) Ferris
7. THEME FROM "STAR WARS"
Scene: the Garage Psychos in the Ferrari
available on the STAR WARS soundtrack & elsewhere
8. DREAM ACADEMY -- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME GET WHAT I WANT (INSTR.)
Scene: the art museum
from the Dream Academy "Please Please Please..." 12" single
(Blanco Y Negro NEG 20T, UK 1985)
9. WAYNE NEWTON -- DANKE SCHOEN
Scene: the parade
10. THE BEATLES -- TWIST AND SHOUT
Scene: the parade
from the Beatles album "Please Please Me"
11. ZAPP -- RADIO PEOPLE
Scene: returning from Chicago
from the Zapp album "The New Zapp IV U"
12. BLUE ROOM -- I'M AFRAID
Scene: at the beach (?)
album/single unknown
13. GENERAL PUBLIC -- TAKING THE DAY OFF
Scene: at the pool
B-side to the "Too Much or Nothing" single (US) or the "Faults and
All" single (UK).
14. DREAM ACADEMY -- THE EDGE OF FOREVER
Scene: Ferris says goodbye to his girlfriend
from the first Dream Academy LP "The Dream Academy"
15. THE (ENGLISH) BEAT -- MARCH OF THE SWIVEL HEADS
Scene: Ferris beats feet for home
B-side to the (English) Beat 12" single for "Jeanette" (UK)
16. YELLO -- OH YEAH (DANCE MIX)
Scene: closing credits
from the "Oh Yeah" 12"s (US & UK) and also elsewhere

Oh wow! - someone else who liked "FBDO" - haven't found many. I too have
tried to find the soundtrack but nae luck. The Sigue Sigue Sputnik track
(spelling!) which was played during the shower scene is played all the
time by Philip Schofield on radio 1 (if you admit to listening to Radio
1!)
However, did anybody see FBDO when it was screened last year on BBC1???
They cut out _most_ of the storyline!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay bit of an
exageration but they did miss out one complete thread - what Mrs Beuller
did all day. You didnt see anything in the bank where Ferris was cashing
in his bonds and almost sees his mother (or is seen by, rather). Now to
me this is a fairly important segment - as well as being funny, it also
explains where Ferris gets his money from to finance the spree. There
were also bits missed out in the restaurant, in the car and by the pool.
I dont really understand why Auntie Beeb had to cut so much out - it
certainly wasnt offensive material, so presumably it was a question of
time, and surely they could have started other programmes 20 minutes
later?! If the film was too long for their slot they could have found
another. I just hope that the powers that be that have their wages paid
by _MY_ TV licence realise how much they spoiled the film. I think I
will have to purchase the video - after all it is only #10.

Yes, Cacktus Jack was the villain played by Kirk douglas. He was trying
to steal a fortune from some poor helpless woman who hired Arnie as a
bodyguard. Arnie protects her, Kirk attempts to steal the money
many many many times and fails miserably. (till the end) Arnie is
impervious to the passes his boss, the woman, makes at him.

Wayne's World: The Next Generation...NOT!
===========================================================================
Hmmmm - I hope I didnt dream all this! :-) Actually, I did think breifly
that perhaps I was getting confused with some other film or was just
imagining plotlines - however on reconsideration I am positive about the
bank scene. Basically, Ferris needs money to finance his day off. Hence
he takes some bonds which his father had been saving to send him to
college. Ferris justifies this by saying something like "Hey - he
wanted me to get an education - what could be more educational than a
day out in Chicago" (It was Chicago wasnt it?) When he gets to the bank
the teller is a deaf old lady who knows Ferris. She complains that he
shouldnt be using these bonds. Ferris then makes up some story about how
he and Sloane are going to get married and they are expecting a child.
When the auld wifie askes when the baby is due he says summat like - "I
dunno yet, we are only conceiving tonight" - which pisses off the old
woman. Then Sloane recognises Ferris' mother who is meeting a family who
she is showing round a house - presumably they are in the bank to sort
out a mortgage or summat. Anyway, through a typically Ferrisesque escape
they get the money.
During the film, not only do you see what Jeanie and Ferris' dad do all
day but you also see his mother. The family that she is with have an
extremely obnoxious child who moans continuously about what a dump the
neighbourhood is and I seem to remember that he asks Mrs Beuller for
some drugs.
Anyway - does this ring any bells?? I saw FBDO twice in the cinema, and
once when it was shown on TV. I dont think that I could have imagined
these scenes cos I remember them quite vividly. I have also read the
book of the film (I am positive it isnt the film of the book) and it has
these parts, hence I was so disappointed when I saw the film on TV over
here. I would be _very_ surprised if the British cinema version had
scenes which had been cut out of the American version.
On a related note, I asked earlier if Americans understood Gregory's
Girl - I suppose Americans could ask me if I understood FBDO!!!

When the terminator came looking for Sarah at the police station,
it first tried to talk its way to her, but got no-where with the

only to return the next minute with its wheels.
I was always fond of the "Conan" movies, where Arnie had to negotiate someone's

> The Ferris soundtrack is out.
Unless it was released, like, in the past *week* or so, the FERRIS
BUELLER'S DAY OFF soundtrack is most definitely *not* out. John Hughes
decided shortly before the movie's release that the songs in the movie
were too wildly disparate in style to work if they were collected in a
soundtrack, so he never allowed one to be put together. The closest
thing to a soundtrack album that was ever released was a promo single
with a couple of really-hard-to-find tracks on it, possibly with the
songs by Flowerpot Men and Blue City.
I have, however, put together a list of the tracks from the film and

Sorry, this is to Lazlo Nibble, I couldn't seem to tag it as a reply.
Anyway, Lazlo, that's quite a list, how did you compile that? I was one
of the assistant editors on this film and I don't even have that complete
a list.
In reference to item #6 on your list: "Rooney's Theme" as he makes his
way to the pinball hangout in search of Ferris, that was actually scored
by Ira Newborn, who scored the rest of the cues that weren't covered by
songs. Our original intent was to put in "The Good, Bad & Ugly" title
theme which worked GREAT with the scene. We even had a shot in there of
Rooney entering the "bar" through two old west style bar room swinging
doors with a real bright backlight. He stands there real cool like a gun
slinger and then the doors swing back and hit him in the butt! It was
very funny. The only problem was, when we tested it for the teenage
audience we were aiming for, they didn't get it! None of the kids were
born yet when "Good, Bad, Ugly" came out and didn't get the joke! So we
changed it to a secret agent style score and I guess it worked ok.
My understanding of why there was no album is that you're probably right.
I think there may have been some problems getting copyrights for an
album as well. I know on the "Secret of My Success" album, "Oh Yeah" was
left off for copyright reasons even tho it appeared in the movie. (I
worked on that film as well, same editor, we really liked that song!)
That song made it into "K-9" as well. I think that must be a record of
some kind. See Ya.

1. Right after they pick up Sloan from school and head into Chicago.
2. When Ferris makes a run for it to beat his parents back home.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Alden, if you are going to nit-pick, at least be sure of the movie
you are talking about!! It was right the first time...

Was there an answer to this? (Think it's called "Big City",
but I'd like to know who did it)...

What's said above has nothing at all to do with what's
said by the company I work for.
OK, I'll correct you. He was leaving the Philippine island of
Corregidor in 1942 after being ordered to Australia, and he sent
a message to the people of the Philippines saying, "I shall
return," meaning he would not abandon them.

Consider yourself corrected, you are wrong. McArthur is supposed to have
said, "I shall return." Close, but no cigar.

81 posts to go, probably been answered, but what the hell, I'm only
costing the new hundreds if not thousands of dollars, right?
Wrong war, it was when he was leaving the Phillipeans (spelled wrong
so save your flames). And it was more like (but maybe not exactly)
"I shall return" but I guess its the same meaning
