Someone please help me with a movie title.

A few weeks ago there was a movie on one of the premium channels.

It stared Gene Hackman. He was the leader of a group of folks trying to go
somewhere into Laos or Cambodia to rescue some POWs.

Thanks

Brian

Oops sorry about that Iknew Hackman was in something like that but I
haven't actually seen it. I'll check into my film database and see if I
can find it for you.

It sounds like "Uncommon Valour" (Canadian spelling) from 1983 (84?).

BAT-21 is *not* the movie. I believe the movie is 'Uncommon Valor', an early
'80s movie. I'm sure many war movie buffs can attest to this.

I think you're talking about Bat 21. It co-stars Danny Glover (the pilot)
and David Grant, who starred in American Flyer. It's a pretty good movie.

No, Bat 21 is another Gene Hackman movie; Uncommon Valor is indeed the POW
rescue movie. Gene Hackman's son is missing in action, and he believes
he's being held at a prison camp because a satellite photo of the camp
shows that the number "111" has been plowed into a field (111 was his
son's unit number or something.) So he goes and rounds up his old army
buddies and one young kid (Patrick Swayze, I think) whose father is also
MIA. They do in fact discover and rescue some POW's, but Hackman's son
had died some time ago.
