I haven't seen "Indecent Proposal" so I can't tell you who he played in
that movie but I can tell you that Billy Bob Thorton didn't play the
sheriff in "One False Move", Bill Paxton played the sheriff, Thorton (as
well as being on of the writers) played the white bad guy. He was the one
with long hair and a hair trigger.

Wasn't the lawyer played by Oliver Platt? Also in 3 Musketeers? RW

Nope, you got the wrong guy in mind. Billy Bob was the white-trash killer
in 'One False Move', not the sheriff (Bill Paxton).
In 'Indecent Proposal' he was the guy who starts talking to Woody at the
Blackjack table, and makes the joke "do you think she'll come back?"
