I just saw The Getaway on tape last week and I have to say
first, Alec Baldwin has got to be the luckiest man alive.
The sex scenes in this movie appeared so real that I'm
wondering whether or not Baldwin and Kim Basinger
(married, as everyone knows) were actually having sex.
I mean, come to think of it, why not? Seems like
something very exciting and daring, wouldn't you say?
Or perhaps I'm just trying to convince myself of the
improbable, in which case, please don't blow the
fantasy for me. Thanks.

I mean, for some movies, they must... how couldn't they? I did hear a rumor
that in this movie they did, but who would know for sure?

Quick reality check needed here, I think.

Why didn't DAVE or JAY ask ALEC when he was on their show ???

That would have been the best way to promote this movie

Actually, when the movie came out, there was an interview with Alec
Baldwin in the Sunday Boston Globe. Baldwin did say there that he
and Basinger decided that they'd never make sex scenes any more, so they
wanted to give this one their all. According to Baldwin in the
interview, he and Basinger locked themselves in a room with just a cameraman
and "really gave it a go". Reportedly, the cameraman couldn't believe
his eyes. But most of the scene was left out of the movie when the
producers got cold feet <grrrrr!!!>.

What I heard that during the filming of the sex scene they actually
started doing it, but this was never put in the movie, here in Europe
we got the unrated or uncut Version or whatever you call it, and
you didn't see shit.

I'll date myself here. Many years ago, when I was a callow
youth, there was a movie called Boxcar Bertha. It starred Barbara
Hershey (before Seagull) and David Carradine and was the subject
of a pictorial in Playboy. I saw both the Playboy spread and the
movie. The sex scenes looked *very* real in both. A little later,
when Hershey had a kid, it was said he (I don't think it was a
she, but if I'm old enough to remember this movie, my memory of
other things is likely to be faulty <g>) was conceived
during--and I do mean DURING--the filming of the movie. If this
is to be believed, I guess it does happen from time to time.

These opinions are my own, not those of the Library of
Congress.

Oh what crap! How could anyone even feel remotely erotic when they've got
50 or so members of a camera crew around them!!??!?

Apparently you're not familiar with anyone with exhibitionist personality
traits. At any rate, the fantasy of having sex in front of many people is
not all that uncommon.

I have heard that the camera crews were asked to leave the room. I don't

I heard that in the Donald Sutherland/whoever movie _Don't Look Now_ the
sex scene was "the real thing". Anyway, a really wild movie--total mindfuck.

Alec B said in an interview that he couldn't really concentrate with 50 crew
standing around him. Now why would he say that, if he was in a room with just
him, Kim and a cameraman? What about the lighting, sound, etc?
