Any other information on him, his background, or films he's been in
would be nice too! :) I know of the Fugitive, Jumping Jack Flash,
and Prince of Tides.
Thanks.
He was also in Crossing Delancey, and a truly strange Robin Hood
movie that also starred Patrick Bergin and Edward Fox. He looked like a
bad guy for most of the movie, but turned out to be a good 'un after all.
Anyone else?
I've seen him in several films and like him (even though he always
seems to be a bad guy...) But I always feel dumb talking about his
performance since I am never sure how to pronounce his name, both
first and last.
Anyone know?
No idea on pronunciation, but yes -- an excellant actor.
Any other information on him, his background, or films he's been in

Sorry, can't help you on the pronunciation Nancy (tho I always said it
as "Jer-own' Crab" who knows if I'm even close) but he also did play
a badguy in a James Bond film. Can't remember which but he was defecting
then turned out to be a double-agent.
He also played a *good* guy in _Kafka_. A friendly stone cutter that
helped Kafka get into the castle. A good role for him. (But he does
have that look of a badguy)

_Living Daylights_ - guess we'll just have to watch that one again next
week, eh? JC was also in Fox's Robin Hood.

I've usually heard it as juh-ROAN krah-BAY.

I remember him as the renegade Russian general in _The Living Daylights_
and he used to be in more artsy films, as a hoitsy-toitsy imported
European. ;-) Apparently he now has some star power .... great ...

That's very close, but I think juh-roon krah-bay is slightly better.
To make it sound more Dutch (he is Dutch, you know), try to
speak from the front of your mouth; i.e. not from your throat.
This may sound silly, but I think this is actually the way to make
your Dutch or French (especially French) and even German sound better.
Cheers,
Caspar.

Hmm. I'd say Juh-ROON krah-BAY

Needless to say, he is a Dutch actor and has been in countless
dutch television series and films, _before_ he had some star
power. "De Fabriek" (The (manufacturing)Firm) for instance,
show him butt-naked wandering around for half an hour
with a glass of whisky. His best Dutch film is "Soldier of Orange"
without a doubt.

He was great, and outrageously handsome, in =Soldier of Orange=.
I also liked him in =The Fourth Man=, another Paul Verhoeven film.
He seems to have gained weight along with his star power -- he's
more jowly now than he was then, alas. But he's still quite
attractive. Why is it that people keep casting him as the
sleek villain?
By the way, to whoever started this thread: thanks! I never knew
how to pronounce his name either.

I have seen his name with an accent over the last "e", so I guess his
last name is pronounced Krab-BAY.
Of course, I could be wrong. :-)
