Possible Cinerama Blu-Ray

From Twilight Time's Facebook page today, in response to someone's
question "Any plans to do the 3-strip and 70mm Cinerama films ?"

"As a matter of fact we are talking with certain entities about
releasing two very rare and fully restored Cinerama titles. Nothing
finalized yet, but talks ongoing!"

Which titles are you talking about? If you are talking about 70mm
cinerama restoration then remember that only 3 -strip is the genuine
cinerama. 70mm cinerama is not true cinerama (there is a huge
difference). The name Cinerama was only used as a selling point
after the copyright owners were paid to use the name.. Most of
these films were disappointing .. Two 3 strip films have been restored
-How the West Was Won and This Is Cinerama .TIC was made especially
for Bradford many years ago. .The cost of restoring the rest of the
faded 3 strip films (all in bad condition and not all complete) would
be prohibitive. I doubt that it would ever happen. Has anyone
bothered to check about the condition of the Russian 3-strip
Kinopanorama films - most of which are still stored in Paris
(France)?

Sure. It's just that a LOT of misunderstanding and mis-presumption
comes from people using that word inappropriately and others believing
it. They can do cool stuff digitally for video, and quite a bit less
when producing new prints, in which cases I guess reconstruction might
be an appropriate term.

Based on what's been said here I'm guessing they're talking about THIS
IS CINERAMA and WINDJAMMER, as those appear to be the most far along.
There would be a great deal of debate if you get into the
entertainment value (and thus, marketability) of these films. From
what I've heard, CINERAMA HOLIDAY is more entertaining than
Windjammer.

I don't claim to be an expert on any of this, but frankly, even those
who DO are not the most infallible authorities, either.

CINERAMA HOLIDAY is certainly better than the other documentaries
but WINDJAMMER is still the best of them all and the music is
unforgettable.I have seen all the films and rate THIS IS CINERAMA
as the least interesting. South Seas Adventure was one of the
better films also.Windjammer has always been the most popular of
the films on dvd (expecially in Germany).

Well you got me there, since I have only seen This Is Cinerama, (of
the travelogues, with a handful of clips from the others) and apart
from its iconic historical significance and signature moments, I found
most of it snoozeworthy. Holiday sounds more fun, (though the bar
from TIC wasn't that high) and I hadn't attached much interest to
Windjammer. Does it have an actual story?
