Note it's being done at 6k resolution!

Oh GACK!!! This movie is so dreadfully boring that the idea of getting
one second of material restored just makes me ill. Am I the only one
that has no good things to say about this movie?

I'll say something good about it: Maybe interest in the 1954 version will
spark some interest in the classic 1937 version and cause it to
1) be restored (if needed, I have no idea)
2) have some prints struck (Vision Premiere please)
3) come out on BD (if it hasn't already)
1 and 2 have already been achieved at UCLA. Their rental print of it
is spectacular.

1937: One of the first features shot entirely in 3-strip Technicolor
1954: One of the first non-Fox films shot in Cinemascope.
1976: One of the first films in Dolby stereo.
Clearly, there needs to be an all-digital version of this story. :-)
btw, I like the 1954 version.

How about in 3D IMAX starring Britney Spears and Sean Penn. Sh#t! I just
snorted coffee through my nose!

You deserve to get coffee up your nose for making that suggestion. I
hope it was good and hot. It'll teach you a lesson, you young
whippersnapper.
The Streisand/Kristofferson version, while attempting
something different, wound up being an ego trip
for Barbara Streisand while Kristofferson channeled
Jack Daniels.
But will the final result be a restoration of Ron Haver's
reconstruction of the premiere version, complete with animated stills?
Or has more of the deleted footage magically turned up?
