Here are the dates and locations that have been confirmed for the 2018
roadshow of 2001 ASO. Apparently, these prints (4-5 total) are from a
new IN made from a 1999 IP that was never used. The soundtrack is in
DTS, with both 5.1 and Todd-AO mixes available.

5/18 - Music Box (Chicago)
5/18 - City Cinemas Village East (NYC)
5/18 - Castro (SF)
5/20 - Arclight Hollywood (LA)
6/1 - Somerville Theatre (near Boston)
6/1 - Hollywood (Portland, OR.)
6/6 - TIFF Bell Lightbox (Toronto)
6/8 - Astor (Melbourne)
6/15 - Coolidge Corner (near Boston)
6/16 - Gateway Film Center (Columbus)
6/22 - Loft Cinema (Tucson)
6/29 - Willow Creek (Plymouth, MN.)
7/6 - Coral Gables Art (Coral Gables, FL.)
7/30 - Alamo Drafthouse New Mission (SF)
8/9 - Redford (Detroit)

There are a few more dates listed at in70mm.com:

http://in70mm.com/news/2018/one_movie/index.htm

Presumably the additional dates are as yet unconfirmed?

I wasn't expecting a release in anything close to the number of venues
that screened 70mm prints of DUNKIRK or THE HATEFUL EIGHT, but it's a
shame that this one isn't a bit wider.

It turned out to be a bit wider release than the list at in70mm.com
would have indicated - Warner has a site up with ticket info for the
venues that are currently screening it:

Caught it here in Houston earlier this week, and the print looked quite
nice for "unrestored", with only a few frames of obvious source element
damage in a couple of spots.

That sounds like setup or maintenance issues with the projection
equipment. The print I saw was solid - sharp, stable and properly
focused image with plenty of light on the screen.

It was in one of the bigger multiplexes in town, which normally might be
cause for concern, but this particular venue has one room that
apparently has 70mm gear permanently installed. THE HATEFUL EIGHT and
DUNKIRK both ran in 70mm there previously, and those presentations were
similarly nice. It's not the biggest screen in the multiplex but it's
decently large.

They clearly have someone on staff that knows how to run large-format
prints properly. Not sure what kind of projection equipment they have,
but I hope to get a peek into the booth and chat with the projectionist
one of these days.

Yes. Given the overlapping bookings at various theaters during this
limited release, several prints were required. Upthread in the original
post, Scott Norwood said that there were 4-5 new prints struck from a
new IN which was in turn from an unused IP dating back to 1999.

I don't recall seeing the Cinerama credit the last time I saw a 35mm
screening, but that was quite some time ago and I couldn't swear to it.
