Yesterday I saw Star Wars at the local plex and noticed that only
three reels ( reels 1 - 2 - 4) had the star shaped cue marks, the
others had the conventional cue mark. What does this mean ?

Replacement reels, maybe? The US print that I saw had star cue marks
on every reel (but incorrect placement at end of R2).

the cues were made by the classic Technicolor cue scribe which is held by
Pete Comandini @ YCM Labs.
