Hi All,

I have a Beaulieu 5008 which I bought w/ no battery... I made a 7.5
Volt external power pack from an Elmo power pack... deleted one of the
C cells. I know that the voltage is applied to the "top" two contacts
of the power handle pins (red and black leads of the battery) but I do
not know what should go to the third pin... the "bottom" one in the
triangle and the one which took a yellow lead from the original
battery. Does this pin get 7.2 volts also? The leds do not work on
this camera and the light meter needle seems to register very low... I
am guessing that this third pin supplies power to the meter and sound
circuitry.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Dear Kiira,
I seem to recall that some 16mm Beaulieu's used to supply half the
battery voltage (3.6) to the light meter circuit. Possibly yours does
this also?

Kiira,
Beaulieu cameras have a weird power supply in as much as they use somthing which I would
call *full" voltage* which is anything between 7.2 and 9 volts DC and an extra pin which is fed
with *half voltage* which can be anything between 3.6 and 4.5 volts DC. If you need any more
specs, please email me. I am publishing a movie makersน magazine (bi-monthly) which covered
this topic in its last issue. I would love to publish the complete article, however, it is written in
German language.
Kiira seems to be a Norwegian name or am I absolutely wrong and you come from NZ?
Norway wouldn*t be too far from Germany and you might find someone to translate the
article for you (as might be the case in NZ).
Let me know if you need more info.

nico

BTW to all: Is it possible to post a pic in a newsgroup thread?

Ok that will work then. I have made a 7.2/9 Volt power pack and I can
take half voltage to feed that third pin. Thanks!

Yes I can handle German so if you could send me that article I would
appreciate it.

What is your magazine? Is it online or ... that other thingy? :-)

Kiira is Finnish... as am I. :-)

Yes it is but it is frowned upon unless it is a binary group.

Thanks extremely muchly!

It*s called *Schmalfilm* (small films) and published bi-monthly. email me
your address and I will send you a sample copy. The last issue came out
May 1, 1998.
I will email you the article or I will include it with the sample issue. Whatever
suits your needs better. Let me know.
