Does someone know when both units are available?
Thinking of changing Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 and Sound Devices mixpre
to 722 probably. Just need that resolution and small package.
Saw 744T at IBC2004 and surely it looks cool as well.

We are sending an availability update to the "opt-in" e-mail list early next
week (Jukka, you're on it...twice). It will also be posted on the SD web
site.

In the meantime, if you have a fast printer and are an insomniac, the
four-channel unit's User Guide is now public. It is available from the main
product page at the Sound Devices web site. Please excuse my last remaining
typos.

Jon,

after quickly browsing through the manual of the 744 I have some comments:

- I think it would be a necessary to offer a manual folder creation option.
As far as I understood there is only an automatic folder creation on the
following day if wanted. On long shoots or night shoots that are normally
considered as one work day it wouldn´t make sense to have a new folder
created at midnite. I think a simple "create new folder now" option would be
nice.

- In the HP monitor section I missed combinations of mono summing like 1+2
and 3+4. this is sometimes very helpful when recording 2 lavs and a
stereo-mic. With that option you can quickly switch between both lavs and a
stereo pair or the other two tracks...

Please correct me if I missed something. I just read the manual briefly...

Otherwise I must say that everything seems to be very nicely made and
extremely promising and most importantly "works as advertised" ;-)

frank.

We have a long list of items for consideration for future firmware releases.
These range from file handling and naming to the discussed new metadata
handling/generation.

What is shown in the guide does indeed document rev 1.04.

I've been told that these are just store samples for distributors/shops
which are not for
sale. Sellable units in 1 or 2 weeks

Hello Eric

Who told you this? Sophisticated items of professional equipment like
this just don't equate with some kind of "store sample". What pro would buy
from that kind of thing?

Hi John

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. I just wanted to say that from what
I've been told that the actual productions units that are been distributed
right know are just going to authorized stores and distributors for
evaluation, etc...Those units can't contractually be sold to the public.
The Sellable units will probably be available in 1 or 2 weeks (I Hope) :-)
