Is the 744T in the shop yet, or do we have to wait for a week or two?
Preparing my gear for a feature next month and wanna take the 744T for
a ride.

I understand the production units are in final assembly now.
We have heard that before too! But even if the hardware units are
completely assembled, if the firmware is not done the units can't be used.
Unfortunatly these new units are more a product of their software based
features than than their hardware based parts.
Any word on the final version of the firmware being ready with all bells and
whistles working?
Is it already working and beta tested?
DEVA IVs and Vs are shipping now with a "work in progress" version of the
firmware. Several featrues remain non-functional (like the internal DVD),
until the firmware is finished.

Rev 1 firmware is shipping with the units. It will not support 1394 master mode.
Rev 2 firmware will support this and is expected early 2005.

Thank Goodness they don't make wireless mics, then it would have been
18 months.

I have one on order and have been told "45 days or so"...
I'm realistically not expecting it until Late Dec/Early Jan.

I think many people is in the same situation as you Alan, It would be nice
if someone at SD could say some official words, We've been waiting for a
week or two for too many weeks now....

The encouraging news is that select dealers, including both locations of
Trew Audio, have had their sample 744T recorders for several weeks now. Our
samples are working well and are available for a test drive.

I had to wait 5 weeks longer on my Cantar, and that was already much
to long for me, as a mixer.
Nothing encouraging on the fact that i saw a Demo standing at the
dealer.

Yep, nothing more discouraging than a half-full glass.
