I have a mackie 1202 mixer, a vocal booth, Pro Tools, and a phone
patch. I have a mic for talk back on one of the channels. I have the
aux send of that channel going to the phone patch for the mix minus.
My problem is I need to send the talk back mic to the phone patch via
aux send and into the booths headphones but not to the monitor
speakers. How do I send a channel to the headphones without sending it
through the main out and into the speakers? I need to adjust the
volume of both independantly of each other. I know it's probably
something stupid I haven't figured out yet but any help would be
appreciated. thanks.

You could pan the Slate Mic Full Left and only monitor Right Channel in
control room. (Turn down Monitor Amp on Left channel or pull the CR out
Left feed to the CR monitors. Talent Mic is centered so it feeds both
channels. Talent in booth monitors both channels. or left channel only.
With no switchable channel assigns and no PL talkback circuit there are not
a lot of choices with that limited mixer.
The Onyx series has built in talkback with PTT button.

You could use AUX1 for the booths headphone and switch AUX1 Master to
PRE.
In the Pre Fader position, signal is comming out of AUX1 with the
fader down,
that is most likely what you want - no signal on the monitor.

Hey peter thanks but i allready tryed that. I have Aux one feeding my
phone patch so i took the headphones out of aux two. The master aux is
set to pre. But when i turn the level down on the talk back channel i
loose it in the phones as well as the monitors. Now the "Level" is the
fader right? So pre fader should mean that this knob wont effect the
aux signal. But it does. Any suggestions?

i can't say i am too familiar with the 1202, but if in fact only aux 1
can be made pre fader, and you need two auxes that can be made pre
fader:

then you need a different mixer!

You could also do it the way most consoles do, and have a relay mute
the CR speakers whenever talkback is on...

The PRE/POST switch on the 1202 is for AUX 1 only, AUX 2 is always
post fader.
My suggestion:
Hook up the phone patch to AUX 2 and the headphones to AUX 1, set AUX
1 to PRE
and everything should be ok!
