Does anyone manufacture "snake" cable with two 4-pair Cat5 cables under one
jacket?

At second glance I notice that the blackbox is not 2 CAT-5 wires in one.
This one is
http://www.trynci.com/cat/siamese.htm Although the web site seems to have
its own problems, it should work.

Try this one.

Thanks for looking Jay. Those are Cat5 siamese and I would anticipate lots
of kinking and coiling issues the way the two are married. But then, I
can't find one example of a "snake" type cable for Cat5. I would have
thought that SOMEONE would make a cable with 16 core, 8 twisted pair, but a
pretty exhaustive search gave me zip (cord<g>).

Douglas:

What is your application? Are you using it for data, or some other
purpose?

I doubt that you'll find any true Cat5 with 8-pair because it won't
meet spec and the crosstalk would be horrendous. Why not just use a
switch at the destination end?

That's easy: Belden 8308, about $200 per hundred feet at Newark. Not
the most flexible of cables, but OTOH it comes with a shield.

The problem is if you need Cat5-spec twists, rather than just '8
twisted pairs'.

My guess is that the charastersitic impedance of the pairs could be
important. I 'm pretty sure there's a multipair CAT 5 cable made, but my
source isn't available for a week or so...give me a bump in a week or so
Doug.
