I'm trying to find out who wrote the song that Peter and his guests sang
around the piano. I believe it's called "The Way You Look Tonight", and
it begins

"Someday, when I'm all alone,
feeling (something) low,
I will get a glow
just thinking of you,
and the way you look tonight."

The song doesn't appear on the "Peter's Friends" soundtrack album. Any
help would be appreciated!

The Way You Look Tonight

Someday . . . when I'm awfully low
when the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
and the way you look tonight!

Oh . . . but you're lovely
with your smile so warm and your cheeks so soft
there is nothing for me but to love you
just the way you look tonight!

With each word your tenderness grows
tearing my fear apart
and that laugh that wrinkles your nose
touches my foolish heart!

Lovely . . . never, never change
keep that breathless charm
won't you please arrange it
'cause I love you
just the way you look tonight!

. . . just the way you look
tonight!

Music by Jerome Kern
with lyrics Dorothy Fields

I was really disappointed that this song wasn't on the Peter's Friends CD
too.

If you'd like to hear a couple of midis of this number, I found some for
you - it's listed under all sites as "JUST THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT":

Did you know that Lou Gehrig died from Lou Gehrig's Disease? What are the
odds of that?

If you like the song, allow me to recommend Ella Fitzgerald singing
The Jerome Kern Songbook. The CD retails for about $12, and you won't
find better versions of these songs, in my opinion.

Glad to hear that, as I had already added this CD to my shopping cart at
amazon.com!

I love Ella to death, but I think the best version of that song is
Astaire's. There's a collection of the songs he introduced in the movies
available on CD that has The Way You Look Tonight on it.

For the record, Fred sang it in the film _Swing Time_ (1936) to Ginger who had
shampoo in her hair and towel around her shoulders. A great movie moment in a
great movie musical.
