"What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't
reach. So you get what we had last week which is the way he wants it. Well
he gets. I don't like it anymore than you do."

Can someone ID the movie.

Is this a joke? If not it's "Cool Hand Luke."

The actual quote is this...

"What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you
just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is
the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more
than you men."

Spoken by the Captain played by Strother Martin, an actor who popped
up in a number of films - a good many Westerns as well as others. -
including, "McClintock", "The Ballad of Cable Hogue" and "True Grit".

It's not a joke. I'm not familiar with the movie. I've been enjoying the
Use Your Illusions albums recently.

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm certainly familiar with parts of the
movie, including the lines and Strother Martin's delivery. It is
not obvious how someone would come across those lines without some
context about what movie it was.

Really? It's one of those quotes that gets used all the time, to the
point that many will be surprised that it is FROM a movie. It now has a
life of its own, independent of the source material.
