Some one in this newsgroup mentioned this film, Le Crime de Monsieur Lange
(1936), by Jean Renoir so I thought I would have a look at it. It is a
strange film, very political, but fun. It is the story of a Newspaper editor
who runs a neewspaper, but steals all the money for himself, bringing the
enterprise into debt. He also mistreats all the women. One day he suspects a
police inspector comes to see him, and he decides to runaway faking his own
death. Meanwhile monsieur lange and the others decide to establish a
cooperative of the newspaper after they discover that the editor is dead.
The new enterprise is very successful, until the old editor decides to
return to steal their money. To prevent this Monsieur Lange shoots him and
escapes with his woman.

Even though this is the story of a shooting, the film is very light hearted,
and the moral of the story is that evil corporate, newspaper editors are
better of dead. This is in short not a film for you Republicans out there.
But i suspect that you too can watch it for the atmosphere and not read so
much into the story itself. Thank you for a good tip the way on a pretty
interesting film. I enjoyed it.
